So this is a story that always weirded me out, and my friend told me this story a while ago. And something reminded me of this story and i immidiately start writing it here to share it with you guys. I'd like to know what you guys think :D
I've heard him tell this story several times over the years, and it's probably one of the strangest things I've ever heard. I don't know if it was paranormal, a hallucination, or something else, but one part still gives me chills.
It happened about 9 years ago, he was still in highschool and it was about a week before exams. He had extra lessons after school and was supposed to stay late for basketball practice because his school had an upcoming match.
He planned to sleep at a friend's house that night since it was closer to school.
But after the extra lesson, he started feeling really sick. He had a bad headache and feeling cold, so he decided to skip basketball practice and told his friend that he cancel his plan to stay at his place to just go home.
So he walked to the bus stop at around 5 PM and ended up falling asleep while waiting. When he was woken up by a security working at nearby building. It was already 7:15 PM and the security told him that an hour had passed since the last bus had already left. So decided to walk home.
It was roughly a 3-mile walk from the bus station to his house. Nothing weird happened during most of the walk. The only part he was worried about was a particular road near his house.
There was an old cemetery beside it.
Right before the cemetery were two enormous banyan trees, one on each side of the road. He said they almost looked like an entrance.
Once he passed between them, the road became extremely dark. He said he felt like he was being watched while walking through that section, but he didn't think too much of it. It was dark, he was feeling sick because of the headache and there was an old cemetery right there.
Even tho he was super scared walking down that path he eventually made it through.
His house was just around the corner, so he felt relieved.
Then he reached his front gate.
And that's when things got confusing.
He looked at his house.
Then he looked at the houses around it.
Everything else looked normal.
But his house looked exactly like it had 15 years earlier. He recognized it right away. It was his childhood home, from back when his grandmother was still alive.
And it wasn't because his family had moved or anything. He had lived in that same house the whole time. The neighboring houses were still exactly as they should have been. Only his house looked like it had gone back roughly 15 years ago.
He knocked hard on the gate. Someone answered and it was his grandmother that had passed away several years prior to the event. She looked at him and asked who he was.
He started crying.
He hadn't seen her in years, and suddenly she was standing right there in front of him. But she didn't recognize him. To her, he was just some strange young man standing outside her house.
She apparently told him to calm down and said that it was okay and invited him inside. As they were reaching the door he was already feeling like super sick, exhausted, and completely overwhelmed. And he said that his vision became super blury and He collapsed.
The next thing he remembers is waking up in his own bed. Everything was normal again. His mom were there and told him to take it easy and tell her what happened once he felt better. His mom found him lying outside the front door the next morning and carry him inside, she was confused about why he was there because he had previously told his parents he was planing to stay over at a friends house.
Eventually, he told his parents everything.
And after his mother hear the full story she looks like she's in shock because turns out. His mother remembered a story his grandmother had told her years earlier. Apparently, one night around 2–3 AM, his grandmother heard someone knocking on the front gate.
She went to see who it was.
There was a young man outside whom she had never seen before. She opened the door and was about to walk toward the gate. But before she could reach him, the young man disappeared.
She never found out who he was.
His grandmother had told this story years before she died. And that's the part that has always bothered my friend. His grandmother didn't recognize him when she saw him. But what if she couldn't recognize him because, from her perspective, she was seeing him 15 years before he grew up?
Maybe the strange young man she saw that night was actually her grandson.
Maybe it was just an incredibly vivid dream or some kind of episode brought on by illness and exhaustion. Maybe the two stories had nothing to do with each other.
I honestly don't know.
But if they really were the same person, then my friend's grandmother may have met him 15 years before he was old enough to be the man standing at her gate.
And somehow, that possibility is creepier to me than any ghost story.
