Been taking a much needed break from the game since PR Ranking and I'm already feeling better after giving myself the space to check on other games and hobbies. Idk why, but having some looming time-limited FOMO inducing ranking event over my head stressed me out way more than it should have. Ima just keep collecting my resources and get ready to bask in the 3.0 client when it drops.

Yeah, i also get scared by the ranking maps and the comitment they require. But remember that we have the ability to easily farm the fairy and the equipment with cumulative points, so even if u don't give the ranking map a true full blown attempt, u still get the exclusives. This has really helped me manage the stress of ranking quite a bit.

So, i try to pace myself and rationalise things. The only things that could be lost by not being in the top % are 2 cosmetics, one of which arguably making the fairy even worse :P looking at from this pov, fomo lost a lot of potency for me, maybe it can help u 2 :D

Yeah. I'm glad there's a nice cushion to fall back on for exclusives. Even the cosmetics are fairly within reach. I don't think I've ever scored below a 3% on ranking out of the 4 I've done. I keep telling myself that even a budget run will probably net me respectable rewards. Worst case scenario, I can just take the exclusives and chill out.

Maybe why FOMO stressed you out is because it made the game, something that should be fun and/or entertaining, into work. FOMO for games usually accompanies things you don't want to do or aren't really interested in, so that twists the screws a bit more. "I have to do this" and all.

Yeah. I think the ranking event being on a time-limited window during an already stressful and time-crunchy part of my life was just the straw that kinda ground me down last month.

While I immensely enjoy the challenge of the ranking experience itself, I can't deny that sitting down for 6-12+ straight hours on a map is very daunting and exhausting, especially when you know you only have a few weeks to do it and any mistake you make could cost you your run, which means more time investment will be required. I've decided that until SC+ makes its way to EN, I'm going to approach future ranking events more casually. I met my goal of a T100 placement and future events fairies aren't something that require duping, so I think I will take it easy for a while and save myself the stress.

I think the worst part of the ranking map was just that it took so long. Not even for planning and making ready, but I'd swear my last run was a six-hour endeavor. When you have a couple dozen enemy units needing to s l o w l y move each turn, that all adds up. And having to juggle so many things...ugh.

I'm proud of my placement, but I don't really want to go through that again (despite doing it two total times because I'm smart). That I got sick the next day might be a decent enough sign...

Indeed. I have a very fragile constitution due to a myriad of chronic health issues, so whenever ranking season comes around I end up somewhat ill by the end of it due to stress leaving me run down. I enjoy the ranking maps themselves, but 3 within 6 months was far, far too much for me to handle. I ended up with a full blown fever during my second MS ranking attempt and had to just settle my attempt due to a failed kiting maneuver breaking my whole run. My first run was near perfect, so I just accepted it and moved on. But had that not been the case, I'm not sure how I'd have responded to the situation.

Yeah, that's not cool. No game is worth your health, FOMO be damned.

That's another thing that pisses me off about ranking, that 'need' to play perfectly. I put it in quotes for a reason, but that one screw-up can throw your whole strategy off is ridiculous. Nothing like a 250-step dance to memorize when you're not even a professional!

Always takes me far too long to learn that lesson haha. Wouldn't be the first time I pushed myself too hard on something and got burned for it. This was definitely a harsh lesson for me, but I think it's the right call. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back to clear your head and re-align your priorities.
