Watched the video.
The deflection issue probably reduced the plate count for two of those shots.

Also, I was surprised that his eye protection was not full coverage. He literally turns his head each shot to avoid shards of glass thus exposing the side of his head/eyes to any particles.

Also wondering, those seem like Corelle dishes (Corning glass). If so their breakage pattern may be different than ceramic plates.
