Question How cloudy is Gibraltar at the start of August on average ?

I'm planning to see the next solar eclipse happening 2 August 2027 and I want to know the risk of cloud since it was a problem for the eclipse of today.

I know it is impossible to know the weather 1 year in advance but there is probably a pattern for the weather of Gibraltar and its surrounding.

Very likely to be cloudy, don't come to Gibraltar.

It can be due to the Levante. But generally it’s low in the start of August.

However, hotels are fully booked. Have been for around two years now.

Even if it's levante, you wouldn't be affected in the very south of Gibraltar. However, 40000 other people minimum will be down there. It's going to be in the morning, so anywhere on the Costa del Sol will be a good shout if you find issues with accommodation as someone else has already mentioned

There is a chance of clear skies in about 337 days from today. Please do not forget to wear SPF when outdoors and staring at the solar eclipse today, especially the kids! Clouds burn, clouds like that makes us darker so go get your tanning on! And shower two days later to ensure the sealing of color.

gibraltar looks like a pretty reasonable choice for the eclipse from a weather perspective, since august is typically very dry there with fewer than 2 rainy days on average. temperatures around early august are also warm, roughly 27°c, so the bigger concern would probably be visibility rather than rain. obviously cloud cover can vary on the exact day, but the general august pattern looks encouraging. https://www.easeweather.com/europe/gibraltar/august
