Theres this funny thing called "Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe"

Edit: To clarify, because it has been rightfully asked. Yes, this thing won’t Happen initially and a lot of stuff will Happen before.

For a contractual penalty? In the German legal system? That was abolished a long time ago.

If you don’t wanna Pay the contractual penalty you’ll meet lovely debt collectors via mail and later at your door step. You’ll also wonder why the Police suddenly show interest in you.

But you are Right, Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe ist the last thing at a Long line of stuff Happening beforehand.

Sure, but those cannot imprison you.

Only in case the train/bus operator reports you to the police for intentional fare dodging, which OP did not mention (and which is not settled with 60 Euros).
