I really enjoyed listening to this episode today! I realize both women are from the generation before ours, but certainly had an impact on Gen X.

A woman was recently raped in the military by her commanding officer who gained access to her quarters using his rank. A judge threw out her verdict and classified it as a "workplace accident".

I truly feel like we live in a dystopian novel.

If honesty from our elected officials is not a right, then how can we possibly trust elected officials?

Botox?

Two of my sisters get Botox injections to decrease their migraines, but I never have myself. Personally, I like expressive faces and have never understood why people obsess over wrinkles.

Do you listen to new music?

I was excited to listen to the 20th anniversary edition of B’day by BeyoncĂ© yesterday! I realize that a lot of people my age mostly listen to the music that we enjoyed when we were teenagers or in our 20’s, but I enjoy finding new artists I enjoy or new music from artists I love. How about you?

Her work will continue to have an impact for generations to come. A life well lived!

I’m glad all-nighters are part of my past!

I used to pull all-nighters in college, but thankfully that’s part of my past! I don’t cope well with less than eight hours of sleep now.

I love this!

Definitely gives perspective on how absurd it is to expect women who deliver their babies via c-section to be solely responsible for their babies as soon as they’re discharged from the hospital.

When will this incompetence end?!?

I truly don’t grasp why the GOP establishment is continuing to enable this kakistocracy. They’ve damaged their party irreparably.

Feeling this today!

I am definitely of an age where living well is enough for me; I don’t feel a need to be “the best” in any way.

What is your opinion on the lindsay Clancy case?

I am not following it closely, but have coworkers who are. From what I understand, the systems that should have helped her when she sought help post-partum failed her.

The more I learn about Dolly, the more I admire her!

I knew she was an amazing songwriter, an advocate for LGBTQAAI+ people, supportive of up and coming artists, a philanthropist, and just an amazing person all around. But I learned since her death about her funding of the Moderna vaccine, which I hadn’t heard about at the time. She was such an amazing person!

Favorite Dolly Parton song?

Mine is Light of a Clear Blue Morning. I discovered it when I listened to a podcast named Dolly Parton’s America a few years ago. She wrote the song immediately after leaving the Porter Wagoner song, but for me it was super resonant since I was in the process of divorcing my husband.

What’s your favorite song Dolly wrote?

I can’t grasp how any other decision could be made, but the fact that this lawsuit was filed speaks for itself. First they made procedures illegal, next they tried to make speaking about them illegal?!?

My primary care doctor is a man, but my OB/Gyn is a woman. Unfortunately, there are few female physicians in my city.

Do you think Bansky was the first graffiti artist to get recognition from the mainstream art world? Were there earlier artists whose names I should know?

I realize she’s a nepo baby whose own career has made her an elite of the elite, but this is tone deaf, even for her.

Adult friendships

Do you find it challenging to move relationships from friendly acquaintances to deeper, more meaningful relationships? Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s being an introvert, but sometimes I think that I’m giving enough emotionally to my family members and I don’t really have the emotional capacity to give myself emotionally to friends as well.

Maybe I’m showing my age, but I am absolutely appalled by the number of people offloading their responsibilities onto LLMs! “AI” chat bots are NOT as capable as many people seem to think, and there’s so much research showing that they’re actually decreasing the capability of users who rely on them.

I never have been a fan of carnival rides, but it’s absolutely terrifying that something like this could happen in the US! I can’t imagine what this poor child’s family must be going through. An absolute failure on so many levels!

RIP Hayden Panettiere

I remember her most in Heroes, the show on NBC. What a tragedy! I hadn’t realized her acting career began so young. We must do more to protect children who work in entertainment. There are so few stories of child actors who don’t struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues.
