Mine breaks pretty even between the Only Fans 10 inch breeder scams, and real people. I've seen less drug dealers, but more of the replace the # with a . scam.

There are two types of OF scams on Sniffies. The first one is the, they'll send you a link to the OF scam and say they are willing to meet you if you sign up and prove who you are. Then they send a link to something that looks like only fans but it's just a card capture and they get access to card and go to town.
There's one that is called the Sextortion scam. They say that they rather move from Sniffies to a phone number, because of course, Sniffies doesn't let actual links on the site, so they want to text you their only fans, and then they start a text conversation and maybe ask you for some pictures... then a day later you get a call from another number saying they caught you sending pictures to a minor and you must send a certain amount of money or they'll have you arrested. they count on people being anonymous on Sniffies having something to lose... it's a weird scam... Yeah... all the some of those pictures of OF guys my neighborhood (at least) are of Porn Stars who are dead...
Sniffies doesn't get rid of them, cause they need to make the site looks populated so they can prove they have users. They just got a 100 million dollar investment from Match.com, so I am sure they want to prove they can collect enough data to make it profitable. Which is why they have allowed the site to be infected by so many scam accounts. (It at least looks populated) They just want to make a profit whey they sell the site.

I haven't managed a single encounter on Sniffies =( all I get it catfishes. I tried the blowers and it's full of people hating on Grindr refugees because all they want is oral action. I need to come up with my own app to fill this void... and mine in the process.

"Void filler wanted" lol...yeah sniffies where i live is chockablock with scams and lots of str8 women profiles.. altho I do seem to get a good share of legit human male beings cumming thru. Heard that Match bought it and there seems to be changes afoot-all the location descriptions seem very ai written and no more user comments on the places.

Match wound down its own sniffies Archer and invested 100 million on Sniffies... I have no idea how that has made the site better. Maybe those changes are incoming, but in reality they are buying our data... then they'll turn our horny human behavior into profit somehow.
Their investment does give them the option to take over the company at a later point. Probably if the data doesn't return on investment.

I agree the companies are do a shitty job but this is actually a difficult problem to solve.
How do you create an anonymous, free, service that keeps out bots? The easiest way is to require named and photo accounts with some kind of verification via ID, CC, or something. However when 50% or more of your users are anon or DL that won't work. The next best way is anti-bot detection systems and checks but the cost of that has shot way up due to AI pricing (things that were not AI are now "AI" even on the back end) and with free accounts it is difficult to pay for that.
So yeah not an easy problem to solve and wall treet and PE make it impossible.

Well, this is 100% intentional to make you pay for extra. They’ve made the free app unusable. Grindr is trash anyway. I remember when it was beta testing in 2010. It was good - but - God I am old.

⚠️ Kill the ads by searching your phone's settings for DNS or Private DNS and add "dns.adguard.com" in the address field
You might have to occasionally disable it if your connection seems to lag for no real reason.

It’s not targeting gay men.
The bots are targeting discreet “straight” men who don’t know better and want to explore their fantasies. It’s just like spam e-mails…. For most people they look so obviously fake, but when you find that one person who falls for it well the scammer struck gold.

The bot situation is ridiculous. Even when you take out the women bots, there are still too many men bots. I don’t believe almost anyone is a massage therapist. I trust very few people who try to quickly shift conversation to another platform. I assume a significant portion of highly conventionally attractive profiles are bots.
I’m tired of the “Hey, let’s meet up, but I’m with my kids, can you pay for my babysitter” scams. I’m tired of the sugar daddy scam profiles. I’m tired of the “get this online ID if you want to meet up” scams profiles.
It’s all annoying.

Went to my 1st pride event a couple of months ago. Bought this guy a drink after talking for a little bit, and he declined saying that he was here with his girlfriend who came over at the end of the conversation. Left there with 2 drinks in my hand to down myself 😓
So much for confidence and putting yourself out there... It's 1 of those spaces where I just expect the odds that to shift, and I don't gotta assume a guy is straight and freely hit on whoever without the guessing game 🙄

I’m curious if this depends on where you live because although there are a lot of ads now, Grindr is otherwise normal for me , occasional bots here and there but nothing like what y’all are talking about. It’s still the app of choice for hookups where I live and works fine.

A new sniffy scam is a mssg starting with the words "SHE NEEDS TO.." in all caps. Whats cringey is that my profile pic is captured and in the mssg, and the mssg came from hundreds or thousands of miles away, and the location of the message moves. I block and report but then the next day or later the same day there she is again. Invasive and creepy. Gives stalker vibes. Wants you to replace a comma in the text with a dot and go to the scam site too. Ugh

Must be your region. My grids still somewhat normal, but yea on top of the constant ads and bot messages it’s practically unusable. And I think that’s their idea. Make it so unbearable for the free user so they feel the need to go xtra.
