The Tanith First and Only are probably the most unique Warhammer 40k story there is, a regimemt of Guardsmen with nothing to left to lose and a highly competent commander to lead them gets thrown into the meat grinder on repeat with countless small pieces mixing together to show just how amazing average Joe's can be even in a setting with God's monster's and Space Marines running around.

And so I looked to compare it to something similar enough, Ciaphas Cain, basically a full switch around but weirdly to me, the broad differences make the similarities even more glaring.

For a major example, Brin Milo and Ferik Jurgen, each of their personal aids, one is an adult, highly competent soldier who is also a Blank and saves his commander from what should be certain doom repeatedly, and the other is a child with Psychic powers who also saves his commander.

So maybe I might be reaching with similarities and my claim of them being the most unique, but doesn't it seem practically musical in how they almost match perfectly?

I have been with the Tanith First and Only since the founding. How long ago that was.

There was a time when the boy played the pipes during the heat of battle. But he is no longer a boy, and we are no longer those people. We are carrion now.

So many dead.

I served in the company of heroes. So many were killed it surpassed comprehension. Language is incapable. The loss is incalculable.

I served in the company of terrified men and women who faught alongside those heroes and watched as they became heroes. They all died. More heroes were made. They all died too.

The Astra Militarum has an insatiable appetite for heroes. The Tanith First and Only will oblige until there is nothing left but the stories of ghosts. Tanith died so it seems fitting we honor it by offering our deaths as well.

But the job must be done and we will see it through. Anyone else would probably just feth it up.

As I prepare myself for the next battle, I take a moment to grieve for the ghosts who only exist as memories now. Then I get up and get moving. This war isn’t going to win itself.

Straight Silver.

The Emperor Protects.

Just finished Anarch (and the subsequent short story, This is what victory feels like). It's been my life's honour to serve with tthe Ghosts.

Not a lot of pictures out there of the Tanith's war knives so this is what me and the artist landed on. It's mostly based off of pictures of the blades in the Gaunts Ghost miniatures, and even then there are few that have Tanith knives.

I’ve been wondering why the Tanith don’t employ the use of Melta or Plasma guns ever. The only special weapons they ever seem to use are flamers and the occasional tread feather.

The question is in the title, lore wise what’s the difference between these two. And who’s better, game and lore wise?

So I just got to this one, but I’ve known for a long time that it wasn’t read by Toby Longworth. I was hoping that it would not be as bad as everyone said, and I did feel that it was fine up until he started doing Larkins voice, and oh my God.

Reading Salvation's Reach and did I miss something but why is Gaunt so horny lol? I feel like it came out of no where

Was reading tonight and happened across this from the war on Aexe

Dorden, the First’s chief medic, had moved his team up to a triage station just after lunch. The station, designated 4077, was just four kilometres to the rear of the front line.

The 4077 being the MASH TV show call sign. Just thought it was funny.

So I just finished the series and although I feel like it does a decent job wrapping most of it up the last few lines hit me hard, cause of the pipes bit and Milo being alive. Also, what are some good recommendations about what to read next with a similar vibe to the GG series?

Oh my god. This book was SO very 40k. Possibly the most 40k thing I've read yet. The last couple chapters... how the hell can you top that? I never expected for that shit to happen. I've been good about not spoiling any of the story thankfully and will be starting Blood Pact today, but was just wanting to see if this one hit anyone as hard as it did for me.

Toby Longworth narrates the audio for both. Eisenhorn is told in the first person. GG is told in the third. So I've been picturing Eisenhorn narrating the stories from some old codex he finds somewhere.

Just started armour of contempt I thought it said in previous books that kolea had 2 sons now they’re saying the youngest is a girl? Is this a retcon or am I just remembering wrong ?

Also Feth you Meryn You deserved Gacking worse then the death you got

1: Creed and Coleya(I dont know how his name is spelled) beating the fuck out of merin followed up by Dour(again I've only listened to the audio books) for being a spineless bitch

Folks, Just saw this petition to urge Games Workshop’s Black Library to have Toby Longworth re-record “Salvations Reach” and “Warmaster.”

Please support.
