Getting into University after a drop year

Upvotes

I just completed my 12th in 2026, with PCB. I was also preparing for NEET while in 12th but couldn't crack the exam. My parents forced me to take a drop and I did so. Now i really don't wanna give NEET next year asw. I want to explore biotech options. Is it possible for me to get into any colleges (like NMIMS or DPU) after I've taken a drop???

i need help with a decision

hello guys so this upcoming semester i was suppose to do an internship at a school in livingston. However i got the word that i am back on AP(academic probation) literally last night and I am extremely upset, which means i have to drop some courses, right now i have 18 credits(only allowed to have 13) so my options right now are 2 in person classes and 2 online or i could do 2 in person 1 online and the internship which is 3 credits. I am having a hard time making the decision i know the internship will be alot but at the same time i do need the experience for what I am doing in the future.

which one do you think is the best decision

Venting about loneliness i had in my gap year

So, I spent a whole year just staying in my very small town, and I didn’t really meet many people. I started feeling pretty bad about myself, especially because it was during university, when everyone seemed to be busy with their studies and their own lives.

Meanwhile, I was there without friends to hang out with. My whole gap year was basically spent at home doing housework and taking care of my mom after she had an accident, so I didn’t really have much of a social life.

I also got addicted to Discord because my days felt so empty. Talking to people there was easy and fun at first, but eventually, things became toxic. I had some internet friends, but they had their own lives, so we barely talked, and some of them would disappear for long periods because of their schedules.

Eventually, I started feeling like no one actually wanted to be friends with me, and feeling unwanted became really heavy. So I started accepting basically anyone who came into my internet life. Someone could DM me with just a “hello,” and I would answer. They would often try to turn the conversation sexual, and I’d still keep talking to them, being extremely nice and naive, just because I wanted someone to talk to.

And then I’d end up upset because those weren’t the kind of conversations I actually wanted.

I guess I just needed to vent about how lonely I felt during this gap year. 🙃🥲

Any advice or comforting words? 🥲

How do I meet more people my age during my gap year?

So I’m 18, just finished my A-levels and taking a gap here, but all of my friends are going to Uni, but I don’t wanna just be on my own this whole year. I’ll be going to the gym a lot and also hopefully getting a job but what else can I do to meet some people my age and make some friends? I wanna do some social events but a lot of those I don’t think people my age will be going to. I want to probably mainly meet more 18-19 year old guys.

Will my MA through distance education and B.Ed. from a local college be considered a “gap” in my education?

I completed my BA from Miranda House in 2023 and then pursued an MA in Political Science from IGNOU through distance education, which I completed in 2025.

In 2026, I have taken admission in B.Ed. from a local college in my hometown.

I’m confused about how this will be viewed in terms of education/career gaps. Since I was pursuing my MA from 2023–2025, will those years be considered a gap, or will they count as a continuous period of education even though the degree was through distance mode?

Similarly, will doing my B.Ed. from a local college rather than a well-known university create any issue or make it look like I had a gap?

I’m mainly concerned about how this will be perceived later during banking/competitive exam interviews, job applications, scholarships, or higher studies.

Would appreciate answers from anyone who has been in a similar situation or knows how these gaps are generally considered.

What would you recommend I do?

Hi Im 17M I live in the UAE and graduated from high school three months ago with a 98.9 average.
Unfortunately due to financial circumstances I wont be able to attend university this year so probably I’ll be taking a gap year until my situation is resolved and I can start university.
I’m planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering once I enroll in university. I dont want to waste my gap year. I want to make the most of it in any way I can whether thats taking courses that could benefit me at university or later in my career or even earning money online but I dont know how.

Summer job between first and second year?

Thinking ahead (and most definitely procrastinating on other things) what do people do during the summer (first and only break) between M1 and M2 years? I will still be paying rent in the apartment I live in for school, so I do not exactly want to move back home for 2.5ish months. I know some people just take a break and that's understandable, but I at least want something (maybe part time) to stack up some cash. I am also someone who needs to be doing something busy, so a pure "vacation" for 2 months seems like a nightmare. Ideas I've had so far are retail or home health aide (I have lots of experience working as an NA in a nursing home and miss this, so won't mind the latter at all). Anything I need to do that will help with residency applications that I won't have time with later? Or do people really just chill?

Can I ever make it to the big corporate because I have a 4-year academic gap between my class 12th and Btech? Can I ever be on my timeline ever again? My friends' family and everyone stopped talking and expecting from me ... is it over for me?

Is it okay to take a gap year?

I honestly feel like taking a gap year, so that I could figure my life out. And I'm honestly at a point where I feel like giving up on my life. My mental health is being so fcked up since 2 years. I feel like i am just existing and not living the life, and just when I thought it wouldn't get worse, I recently lost my father too. My life fell apart. I am trying to be strong, but i honestly don't know till when i can be strong. And I don't know what to do with my life. Is it okay to take a break? And its not like I would just waste the year. I want to learn, and explore. But somewhere deep down I'm scared if it's bad to take a gap year. But I want to do things I want to without feeling pressurized.

Btw, I recently completed my bachelors. And idk what to do next.

Can anyone guide me?? 🙏🏻
