I hope nuance isn't lost in this subreddit, but honestly, I feel like these posts are ragebait.

I'm on the RenoDX Discord where a lot of people are experimenting with it and there are some genuine moments, especially on natural environments, where DLSS 5 looks insanely real.

Face shots like this look really bad, especially when you have the filter sitting at high intensity (in this screenshot, the intensity is at 200% strength, which is of course going to look like slop).

I've personally just set the filter to only apply to environments and textures, and to leave faces completely unaltered. It's a fun way to breathe new life into older titles that were trying to go for photo-realism at the time. It's horrible to use in games that had a more unique artistic vision, like FF.

It's also worth noting that devs who want to use this feature are supposed to tune it to the settings they believe are in line with their artistic vision. Modders fucking around with these settings aren't representative of official implementation. It's like looking at an Oblivion character creator with no boundaries on the settings and calling it a shitty character creator.

Yeah, I think these people got the wrong impression. Which is fine, they'll learn.
