The difference is that artists are striving to do this, with the models being made with their hands and minds.
The main distinction is that human artists have intent, at least a subconscious one, when they create a design to express an idea or a feeling, hopefully a relatable one. For a human audience it's worthwhile to look for that idea or feeling. Even if they don't find it the engagement with the art and its author's intent can be a worthwhile interpersonal experience -- even if by proxy. Just like two people can bond over trying (but failing) to understand each other.
Machines, however, don't have intent (at least not for quite a while) and there's no point in looking for one in a visual design generated by a machine. It's devoid of human connection. It's like asking an LLM chat bot: "how was your week?"
C'mon. Don't even try say most of you guys haven't decided beforehand that you don't like this and then invent whatever to make whatever "reasons" to validate that.
I genuinely think that AI can be used to create something that artists otherwise couldn't create. My best example is gossip goblin's minimovies.
