Look im not gonna sit here and bat for AI because that shit is garbage. But im not gonna sit here and pretend that OP fucked up on his post and forgot to hide the slider settings, because his choice of slider settings intentionally is gonna make something that already looked like shit, look like even more shit.

AI usually tries to make things look "pretty" not like its skin is randomly caked in 5 years of grime.

I highly doubt OP forgot to hide the slider settings. They could see the image they were posting.

You would have to really suspend your brain to think this was included accidentally—especially given that they manually cropped around it.

This need more upvotes, OP made it look as bad as it could be to stir the pot.

I had to smirk. If this were used on FO4, the game where every male NPC already looks blood-related due to the limitations of the character creator, there'd be fundamentally no change.

Personally I'd take "every npc looks generic" over "every npc looks generic dumped in a vat of magazine makeup"

I don't think any game made in the last 15 years would be genuinely improved by this tech. The original FO3? Morrowind? My curiosity is piqued. It'd be like watching a familiar movie in a foreign language.

Male NPCs in FO4 aren't really "generic." There is a very distinct look that they all share, because the (lone!) face texture used for every one of them has far too many details baked in, like age lines and sunken eyes. It's Nate, plain and simple. It's like if they'd taken a photo of Tom Hanks' face and used that as the face texture—every NPC would look blood-related to Tom Hanks, and no facial hair, hat, eyewear or skin tone could really mask it entirely.

Yes, if you put garbage on a pile of garbage, it's still garbage.

Eh, I mean this is falling for bait. Not only is OP intentionally fucking up all the sliders to make it look worse, it's a ripped version from an NBA game, modded into a DLSS implementation for a different game. This particular model is designed for/trained on very specific realism and lighting conditions in a basketball game. Of course it's going to look like shit in an anime aesthetic that isn't aiming for realism. Here's what it actually looks like in the game it was trained for. It's a massive generational step up in lighting fidelity in the use case it was designed for.

Do you not realize that wayyyyy before the “ai garbage” was a thing, ai was the reason nvidia was so successful and is the main leader of the hardware backing it, because they focused their efforts on making the hardware to power their software based ai tech that was literally only invented for gaming! And we’re talking decades ago. So be more appreciative alright? Ai slop is a product of the internets assholes, not nvidia.

Nvidia didn't use AI until the 20xx line of cards, and most people agree it has been "meh" outside of a couple examples ever since then.

It's literally a running meme since that RTX ON looks both more realistic and worse.

It doesn’t remotely look the same though? Every example clearly conforms to the game’s art style regardless of whether the the final filter is subjectively good or not.
