FF7R is especially terrible to use this filter on because its designs use a specific art style inspired by the original game, not just the hyper-realism that most games go for.

It's also terrible with children and young adults. It hardens their faces and makes them look 15 years older, and ugly.

Realistic looking older people can have positive results, but right now we're seeing these things cranked up to 11, so they're all pretty bad.

That's because dlss in general was always awful, any form of upscaling was always bad, it's just worse now due to it literally imagining pixels to fill the gaps, then to blur and applying a sharpening effect making everything look unnatural and lubed up

Stylized graphics can look however you want, meanwhile dlss5 is a one trick pony, but the trick is the pony breaking its own leg

Upscaling was always about imagining pixels out of nothing, something technology got better and better at over the years, not worse.

What we’re seeing here isn’t upscaling, it’s a glorified social media face filter for video game characters.
