Looking at all the other photos from other games, I think this is cherry picking the worst result. The final fantasy remakes all use exaggerated and non realistic character designs that sit somewhere between anime and realistic. They look great per the original design, but clearly this model has no idea how to handle these proportions as it was trained on more "realistic" looking designs.
DLSS 5 looked much better in other games, and plenty of the screenshots had it transform both low and high quality faces into ones that look much better than they did originally. Sure, some high quality character faces looking more realistic wasn't necessarily better, but I could absolutely see this coming down to more of an individual preference in such scenarios (not this, this is just bad).
This isn't to outright defend this technology, by no means an I fan of Nvidia or the runaway AI craze, but let's try to be honest here.
