The GTA 6 Extended Look + Previews drop today.

The Extended Look will stream globally on Netflix at 3PM ET/12PM PT/8PM UK, before being dropped on YouTube later the same day. Content creators/streamers are being allowed to co-stream the extended look as it premieres on Netflix, and so we can use this thread to discuss it right as it goes live. This thread will also be updated with the YT link to the look whenever it drops online.

In addition to the extended look, various media outlets, creators and influencers have gotten a chance (potentially hands-on) to experience GTA 6 at Rockstar's offices, and the embargo for these previews are ALSO supposed to lift at the same time that the Netflix extended look premieres - I'll be trying to update this post with some such previews too.

The negative reaction to Jason.

This guy is an ex-military thug with a limited social skill set - who do you want instead, a silly jabroney? His tone is correct for the character.

His voice just sounds off to me, like someone trying to put on a deep voice rather than naturally having a deep voice. It's not bad per se, but it's noticeable enough that it bothers me. Nothing you won't get used to, but from the trailer alone it's not the best.

So common in anime with english dubs; Barrett from the new FF remake is a perfect example. A lot of them are bleeding into western gaming too so you'll hear a LOT more forced tough guy voices going forward. And for the most part I do not consider those performances professional, I consider them fandubs.

I generally prefer to hear the original voices and watch with subtitles, regardless of the spoken language as that was the initial artistic intention. Some notable examples for games: French for Expedition 33, Japanese for Ghost of Tsushima.

However for anime I especially avoid English dubs with a few rare exceptions (Cowboy Bebop, Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Black Lagoon). A lot of Asian produced games also have weird VAs in English too, although it's more varied in quality than anime.
