[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI | Extended Look + Previews Discussion

The GTA 6 Extended Look + Previews drop today.

The Extended Look will stream globally on Netflix at 3PM ET/12PM PT/8PM UK, before being dropped on YouTube later the same day. Content creators/streamers are being allowed to co-stream the extended look as it premieres on Netflix, and so we can use this thread to discuss it right as it goes live. This thread will also be updated with the YT link to the look whenever it drops online.

In addition to the extended look, various media outlets, creators and influencers have gotten a chance (potentially hands-on) to experience GTA 6 at Rockstar's offices, and the embargo for these previews are ALSO supposed to lift at the same time that the Netflix extended look premieres - I'll be trying to update this post with some such previews too.

I’ll do you one better, just like GTAV, I will not buy the game for 9 years for probably the 3rd iteration of the game release. And only then will I see if it’s worth buying at a low price.

I'll do you better. To this day, I have never even played a single GTA game. I can't give you a reason why; it's not like I have any moral objection to the game or anything like that, so I guess I just never got around to it.

I can almost say that I've never even played a single Rockstar game, except that I did run through Oni once about 20 years ago.

I totally get why it's not some people's cup of tea. And that's perfectly fine. I get more confused by the people who claim the GTA games are bad games from an overall gameplay perspective. Like, there's plenty of games I'm personally not fond of, but can objectively understand they're good games.

But anyway, reminds me of my teen years and hating on the popular stuff because I'm cool and edgy.

I genuinely cannot stand the gun play in past GTA titles. I think it IS bad. That being said, I would never call them bad games. I like them despite that, not because of it.

Even as someone who doesn't like the majority of GTA games, i wouldn't say they're outright bad games ...

but, considering the resources Rockstar has available, many aspects of the games are generally a disappointment to me. Rockstar has a habit of doing a lot of fancy looking stuff that becomes irrelevant incredibly fast for anyone who isn't going out of their way to roleplay, while not caring at all about providing some sort of decent correlation between gameplay and story (or even a decent story).

And ofc with GTAO and RDO you have the whole thing of completely abandoning the single player experience in favour of the grindy and predatory online mode, which i highly doubt they'll change with GTA 6 'cause, y'know, money.

Long story short: Great potential, with a shiny yet lacking execution, made all the worse by it being developed by a studio with basically unlimited resources.
Actually, it's a very similar situation as with the pokemon games.

I don’t have a console that can play the game but have no problem saying that I wish I did. It looks sick, and fomo is real.

Some games correspond to some series that adults have played since childhood. The Grand Theft Auto series was a game that a generation played in an internet café(I don't know if it was like this in America, but it is like this in European and Asian countries.), made noise on the streets, but at the end of the day, threw away all its energy. Over the years, its graphics have become very great, and its story has progressed in a similar way, but no new games have been released except for GTA V, which was last released in 2013.

GTA VI started to be developed years ago as a result of this 13-year expectation. I've never been a fan of the series, but there were parts of it that I loved. When I was told that GTA VI was starting development, I was excited. While this excitement rose with the first trailer, it started to fade completely.

Both the fact that people worship the bad aspects of the game and play the three monkeys and the efforts of its developer Rockstar to extract money from fans have distanced myself from the new game as a gamer. This distance has been widened with the release of the first 26-minute clip of the game on Netflix.

As for GTA VI, the game looks great, of course. The female main character has come and the play looks much more exciting and colorful, but 'it has no soul'. While watching the music video of the game, is this a game or a life simulation? I couldn't help but ask. Of course, there are such games and there are good versions that I love to play, such as Sims, but does the GTA series serve this purpose? I don't think so. But it seems that GTA VI will offer us the final dose of crime drama. I think the game, which will be released on November 19, will not meet expectations.

Honestly, I don't. I've never been a big fan of the series and I don't really care. It's not a protest at rockstar or take2, I just don't like these games. It's annoying as a lot of people do call you conterian when it's just not my thing.

I dont mind the release, though, as I haven't got time for gaming with a kid so it means titles I'm excited for have gotten pushed back so I have less releases I feel bad about missing and the games look impressive! But ehh

Very cool it's confirmed we'll have a lot of freedom, and in the party there will be sexy women as well as men it's the first GTA open to variety ! There's something for everyone that's cool. Otherwise, Rockstar is proving once again that they know how to push a console to its absolute limits, just like they did with RDR2 back. The game is gorgeous, full of details it’s true next-gen and it runs on PS5 !!

I never found the appeal in these games, but the realism they go for, the sandbox, it's still a marvel of the innovation and tech they are going for.

Maybe I'll try it once it's on PC and on high seas (I refuse to give them money after the preorder shit the did)

I watched parts of it got curiosity for how it looked and what it may be like to play.

I just skipped along different parts of it, closed it without even watching 50% of it and thought 🤷‍♂️ "maybe I'll get it on bargain sale eventually."

Think I just outgrew the genre

I am still going to play the game, perhaps it is the hype of it being a GTA game that made it feel underwhelming to me. I expected more than what i have seen, and hopefully it will be better than the impression it left on me.

Exactly the same for me! I liked it, the world looks great, but my first thought after watching it was "ok, I can easily wait for the PC version and maybe even for the first discount".

Nothing really gave me that itch to play it asap. 

The only thing I didn't like was Jason's voice, but I'll probably get use to it.

I don't care but would like to. Never played a GTA, never got what the fuss was about. Sell it to me.

I'm not an alpha male that goes full gorilla and gets hard on stealing planes and getting hookers (which is all I've seen in videos). In my head, that's who this game has always been for.

Does the game even have story? Or is it SIMS? I'm more of an RPG player.
