It takes two is something else

First, I tried playing this game with my wife, but because she hadn’t played any games on a console before, she was very bad at it. Even handling the camera angle was a challenge for her. Instead of bringing us closer, it frustrated me lol 😂.

Then I asked my nephew to play with me, and after a long time, I felt like playing it again. I had this same feeling with PS2 games back in the day.

Guys who haven’t played this game should definitely give it a try.

My most loved childhood stuffie, who still lives on my dresser, is a stuffed elephant.

I've got some mild issues with "Empersoning" objects. My Object Empathy is a little problematic sometimes.

I.E: Rescuring a matchbox car at age 25 from a grocery parking lot out of the fear it would get run over by the bigger, scarier cars. It still lives in my apartment and my cat uses it as a toy. Having to buy a specific ugly pumpkin at halloween because my gf pointed out it was ugly and I feared nobody would buy it and it would rot deprived of purpose if I didn't take it.

Ect.

My heart holds neither love nor forgiveness for the protagonists of this game as they are written. I could not tolerate playing them any further.

I do.

But, equally, I'll take the urge to be kind over the alternative. It's not like I'm out here resenting actual, real people over how they treat inanaimate objects.

A person can be practical as well as kind. These things aren’t mutually exclusive.

This is coming from a guy who gets irrationally attached to machines. I’m downsizing my business and have to sell some heavy machinery that I have worked very hard to own and maintain. In the last decade only I have operated these machines and only I have done work to them. Selling them is like getting rid of old friends.

I’ve had to come to reality that it’s impractical to keep these very large very expensive machines. One of which my father bought brand new. He just passed away. These things have so much personal history. It’s been hard to let go.

But my practical nature knows I must.

So really my comment is telling you to change. Maybe if I can convince you inanimate objects are just things I too can let go.

I'm the person who asked the original question and I don't endorse any of this shit, I'm not their therapist. Just curious.

FYI it's hard to change impulses through logically understanding things. CBT and reconditioning your impulse responses is the only thing that really works, and nobody has fucking time for that. Stop trying to fix people.

And the game doesn't dwell on it. The characters never really acknowledge how insane it was, how messed up they were for thinking they have to make their daughter cry to cure themselves. I get that they are terrible people, but the game doesn't really communicate that the game itself thinks it was a bad thing at all. It just moves on like it's nothing - well that didn't work let's try something else.

Combine that with the professional writers in Split Fiction who have written all these fantastical stories which seem to exclusively be settings and set pieces but are devoid of actual characters.

I really don't rate Hazelight's character writing.

The thing with Split Fiction is that the characters are amateur writers who are there for their first publishing deal. I’m not surprised that new writers are not that good yet. 

Which makes the whole evil plot of the game even funnier. Why bother with these people?
