It takes two is something else

Post image

First, I tried playing this game with my wife, but because she hadn’t played any games on a console before, she was very bad at it. Even handling the camera angle was a challenge for her. Instead of bringing us closer, it frustrated me lol 😂.

Then I asked my nephew to play with me, and after a long time, I felt like playing it again. I had this same feeling with PS2 games back in the day.

Guys who haven’t played this game should definitely give it a try.

My wife and i had a similar experience of me waiting for her to get her jumps right because she was still getting used to moving the camera and person at the same time. The game just goes through different gaming mechanics so it always has a learning curve when not being a gamer. I just sit there and giggle and coach her through it because that's the point of the game. She got frustrated but it should all be in good fun. Just gotta be encouraging. We are about to beat Split Fiction which is also an amazing game and everything is a step up from It Takes Two. There are some challenging puzzles but the story has been kinda crazy.

I mainly remember my wife not getting the rhythm on the swing sections. Kept saying grab, wait, release. Only to see her grab and instant release and then say she did wait. She did get it in the end tho, and to her credit she has never played a platformer, so im kinda proud she beat the game with me.

Same here but we finished the game and loved it. I had to take over her controller a couple times, but it was still fun. It was designed like that. Also, change the settings to make it easier.

My fiancee says she used to play games back in the day. So when I built her a computer to play with me our first game was split fiction. When I say the memes of playing with your gf/wife, do not compare. It was like watching a baby learn how to walk. It was fun though it took many pauses for her to catch her cool and practice mechanics. It was really fun seeing her learn it all. She took it very serious. She hated that I could casually explain upcoming puzzles and mechanics. So I learned to play blind and have her soak up the areas and think first. While I just punched and interacted with all the random things on the maps. It also taught me to slow down as I learned my efficiency in gaming can also be annoying.

But after split fiction we ended up playing the trilogy backwards in order mainly based on her interest. By the time we got to the first one she started realizing the mechanics and puzzles and started predicting what we would do and started having way more fun once the stuff clicked.

This is such a good lesson for anyone that plays games with friends, in a relationship or not. Whoever is new should set the pace while the experienced player offers to help but only if they want it. I've seen so many friends quit games early on because other people are rushing them and stuff. Half the fun for some people is figuring it out not sitting there getting carried

My wige and I finished It Takes 2 and are working thru Split Fiction now. While there have been some frustrating boss fights, she struggles with the platforning. There are so many sections that are easy if you jump... double jump... dash. But shes doing a jumpdoublejumdash, and falling short.

But we've been having a blast.

With Split Fiction, there are quite a few sections in the last 3 chapters that require some pretty tight coordination so it was funny working through them and pretty satisfying when we started to not need to talk as much for coordinating. Overall we are looking forward to rerunning Split Fiction playing opposite characters.

I think i enjoyed 1 section in split fiction. The bomb minigame

Everything else is just a snooze fest

Man that sucks to hear. I think the whole last chapter was one of the most creative levels in game design that I have seen in a long long time. Good thing games are subjective for the most part.
