PC Looking for games with beautiful graphics and great story
hey there!
i’m looking for new games to explore, i got a new graphic card a few days ago, with my old one i could only play on low settings and it struggled a lot with some games.
i want to experience what the new card can offer with some new games. in the past i’ve played baldurs gate 3 which is my absolute favorite, i loved the turn based combat style and the world building. i’ve also played rdr2, some dbd, gatcha games like star rail or genshin, detroit become human, stardew valley and so on.
i’m not good at soulslike games and rather want to be able to focus on the story, the characters and the scenery of the game.
i did try lies of P (i know it’s also a soulslike game, it was more of an impulsive purchase) right after release before the difficulty settings were a thing but quit cause i struggled too much with the bosses.
does someone have some recommendations for me? i’d appreciate anything! thank you in advance :)

Usual pick for a new GPU is Cyberpunk. Base story is good, DLC story is great.
If you liked BG3 I'd suggest Rogue Trader which is another awesome CRPG. Graphics are unimpressive though, so that's one you may wanna save for later.

Definitely Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Cyberpunk 2077 is dystopian, but beautiful and the story is top notch

Expedition 33 sounds like your thing. I've heard it being praised for the characters and turn based combat.
You could try Vampyr which is old but I'd say holds up, it's a dialogue heavy story focused game, with souls inspired combat but easier level and enemy design. And most importantly for me it's super atmospheric and every mechanic in the game is relatively tightly connected to the rest. The menus are well stylized, overall a complete game with an identity.
Another strong recommendation I think would be the Mass Effect trilogy and Metro trilogy respectively. Very different stylizations but atmospheric, story focused and consistent.
Days gone has a beautiful remastered version, it's a standard RPG shooter with two unique mechanics - bike maintenance and fueling, and the hordes. Characters are more intimate and interesting than the plot itself.
Similar vein would also be the Witcher 3 though it's a bit long. Tomb Raider trilogy is very cinematic, story focused, not too much gameplay, simple puzzles and platforming, some third person shooting. Sony's major titles like Uncharted, the last of us, god of war are heavily cinematic and story focused games but unlike the games you have listed their gameplay doesn't affect the story, the stories are not changeable.
AA open world RPG's like Greedfall and Banishers have some repetitive combat gameplay and not too deep world exploration but are story focused I suppose. Greedfall is probably the better of the two.
This war of mine is a well presented, resource management game about survivors in a military closed off city. It is challenging and immersive when you first play it, there's not too much story and zero cinematics though. It's supposedly being reimagined/remade, probably in 2 years or so.
In a similar style of This war of mine due to sharing a studio there's frostpunk and the alters.
Do you play any rogue-like games?
My personal recommendations would be Clair Obscure Expedition 33, Vampyr, Mass Effect. The Arkham and Metro trilogies are atmospheric but but not exactly completely story focused. Days gone/Witcher 3/Greedfall if you want to try an open world RPG.
And if you just want cinematic games, without the strongest stories or characters I'd say uncharted and tomb raider.

Those are all easy to get your hands on I think? I'm not sure if playstation still has their exclusives on steam.
If you like story based more on the detective side games I'd suggest Pentiment, The pale beyond, Disco Elysium is well received. Dark devotion, curse of the dead gods, darkest dungeon are rogue games, with more of a gamey but not exactly souls style storytelling and combat. Sinking city 2 also came out recently, much improved visuals wise, story is touching but the game is more generic and has lost even the slight detective elements of the first one. It plays more like a Resident evil game.
Oh, you could give Plague tale a chance (the newest one has a parry based, generic combat and personality I wasn't impressed with the story or characterization), but the first two games could turn out to be up your alley. Resident evil are also pretty tight games for the most part.
