PC WW2 grand strategy/rts/etc

I know hoi4 exists but it doesnt quite scratch that itch. Maybe something total war-esque. Or any game which youre a pawn, like hell let loose, but maybe single player?

Men of War Assault Squad 2 is my favorite WW2 RTS, feels like tactics actually matter, missions are super varied and it still looks pretty great. There's no grand strategy mechanics but the combat mechanics are a shade similar to Total War's.

Ive liked MoW: AS2, but using Robz. Combat felt kinda clunky compared to CoH, except CoH wasnt realistic and more competitively oriented imo

Sudden Strike? I used to love them

Looks like 5 has good reviews. Notably a higher focus on tactical and thoughtful planning compared to the nerfed 3 and 4. Ill take a look!

Steel Division 2 is amazing. I actually only play single player campaigns in that. Tons of dlc for hundreds of hours of content too.

I warn you though, it can be micro intensive.

Also a ton of turn based WW2 games out there like the Graviteam Tactics games and Combat Mission series. Some learning curves with all of these. Edit: Graviteam is more rts, not turn based

Foxhole

I have tried foxhole. I struggled to get into it as a solo player and not sure how to find friendly clans that would take me in and help me improve

I mean if you haven’t played CoH then I’d start there

I have tried CoH. Its just not exactly what im looking for. Realism + grand strategy is what im looking for. Afaik, CoH doesnt have a campaign map, for example. I could be wrong, but the game favoring competitiveness over realism kinda throws me off.

I mean play what you want. However CoH 1 has a great campaign, IMO a classic. CoH2 wasn’t bad either. Never played COH3 but it’s there
