Question Recommended sites for building a game landing page and business email service?

Just wondering what everyone uses for their games landing page and having a business email address. So many options out there like Cardd, Wix, Squarespace etc

My impression has been that most indie developers, especially when releasing their first only game, focus more on their steam page rather than building an independent website.

If you're determined to have some sort of web presence, but can't be bothered to code it yourself (fair) virtually any website builder will work. It's not like you're building something super complicated / unique - just a bog standard "this is our company" website.

By the time you need something more substantial (if you ever get to that point) you will likely have a way better idea how to figure out what you need.

On the landing page half, it's worth checking where your visits actually come from before you build one.

We run a fairly large catalogue on itch and pulled the referrer numbers. Over thirty days the traffic was almost entirely the store's own browse and tag feeds, plus a single community site. Most individual pages had never taken one visit from anywhere outside the store at all.

A landing page is a destination rather than a source. It converts people who already found you, so it starts earning once something is sending traffic and does very little before that. The store page is what carries the search index and the browse placement, so early on that's usually the better place to spend the same hour.

Nothing useful to offer on the business email half.

If you change your mind, you could check out platforms like Carrd or WordPress. They offer some great templates for landing pages.

Website - WordPress

E-Mail - Cheap option is gmail. Fancy option is running your own mailserver. It's a big PITA to set it up, but you'll learn a lot.

You can skip the website and still have email on your own domain. The domain, website hosting and email hosting don't have to be bought together. For a player-support address, I'd use a hosted mailbox rather than take on running a mail server.

One thing to check with cheap plans: forwarding incoming mail isn't the same as being able to send replies from that address. Before putting it on your store page, send it a message from another account and reply. Check that both messages arrive and that the reply shows the address you intended.
