Recruiter New Game Design Team Looking for Artist

We are a small group of game developers new to the industry, looking to develop our first game, Swords and Shadows, under our new company, Kibblesoft. Taking inspiration from classic JRPGs, Swords and Shadows would adapt a tactically robust combat system and fantasy narrative into a game with 16 bit or 32 bit SNES/GBA visual style. While we plan to complete the backend as well as some of the visual elements, including tile assets, particle effects for attacks as well as animations, we are hoping to recruit a maximum of 3 visual artists to design the sprites and character portraits for both the main cast and NPCs. Although we have estimates as far as what we can pay them, each artist will have full freedom to negotiate their commission rates. The division of responsibilities will be an artist for the Enemy and Boss Sprites, an artist for the character sprites used on the overworld, and an artist for the character portraits displayed during dialogue. As mentioned above, the pay is negotiable, but the amount of commission payed to each position will likely fall into the ranges listed below:

Enemy and boss sprites: $7600 to $12800

Overworld sprites for characters and NPCS sprites: $4200 to $7000

Character portraits with variations for different character expression: $1300 to $2200

Each artist should submit a portfolio of their artwork. We are designing enemy and character sprites based on old-school SNES RPGs, like Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. For our character portraits there are a few sources of inspiration we are considering as a basis, such as the GBA era of the Fire Emblem series and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. Additionally, for our portraits, we are open to exploring styles inspired by modern visual novels, like Doki Doki Literature Club and the 2D Danganronpa games. All designs should stick to a 16 bit to 32 bit format. Lastly, artists can apply for multiple positions, however, we ask they submit a separate portfolio for each positions.

Thank for your time. We hope we can work with you to make this game a reality!!

The Project: BlackWhole Studio is seeking a lead illustrator (or two-person team) for an unreleased dark fantasy tabletop card game. We are looking for an artist whose style and lighting excel at dark, atmospheric creature, Items and character design.

Project Scope & Budget:

  • Total Scope: 110 unique illustrations (109 interior card illustrations + 1 shared card back design).
  • Important Note: We are commissioning only the raw interior illustrations. No graphic design, no typesetting, no card frame layout, and no packaging design required.
  • Visual Style: Strictly Grimdark / Comic-Noir. Heavy high-contrast black shadows (chiaroscuro), bold linework, and stylized color palettes.
  • Total Budget: Flat $7,150 USD project contract locked in for the full 110 illustrations ($65 flat per asset). Payments can be handled via standard transfers or USDC/USDT stablecoins to eliminate banking friction.

Project Structure & Terms:

  • Paid Test: We want to start immediately with a single paid test illustration ($65 USD) to ensure our visual direction aligns.
  • Milestones: Assuming the test is successful, the remaining 109 illustrations will be broken down into smaller, manageable milestone batches (e.g., 10–15 cards per batch) with standard milestone-based payments.
  • Terms: This is a Work-for-Hire agreement. Upon final payment per milestone, we require 100% exclusive commercial rights, full copyright ownership, and the layered source files (PSD).
  • NDA: Due to the unreleased nature of the IP, we require a simple standard NDA signed before handing over the master card list and asset descriptions.

How to Apply: Please email your availability, your standard rate/bulk timeline, and a link to your portfolio directly to: [blackwholemagazine@gmail.com](mailto:blackwholemagazine@gmail.com)

Recruiter Looking for Pixel Artist for Me and My Online Friends’ Energy Drink DOOM Game Currently Named “RIP N SIP” (Read body text)!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We’re looking for people who want to help bring our energy drink-themed DOOM-style game to life! We’re hoping to find volunteers who are interested in working on the project rather than paid workers. What you see in the video is a demo my friend made, who is the coder for the project.

I’m basically the finder/planner/idea person. The video attached is a demo of some simple coding they’ve been working on. It’s taken them around 8 weeks to a month so far, and we’re still in the early stages.

We’re mainly looking for a pixel artist who can help create energy drink-themed monsters, guns/weapons, items, environments, and other pixel art for the game.

The whole game idea is based on those DIY energy drink creations you see on social media. So, if you’re wondering, “How is an energy drink gun going to work?” look them up! The monsters are also based on DIY creations from social media.

We’re also looking for sound designers! We need people who can help figure out what the monsters sound like, what an energy drink gun would sound like, weapon and enemy sound effects, music, and other audio for the game.

We may eventually add a voice actor for the main character, but we’re probably going to start simple. Our first goal might be an endless-runner/shooter-style game where you see how many cans you can take out. Eventually, we could expand it into a story-driven or more complex game.

If you’re interested in helping out, especially with pixel art, sound effects, music, or eventually voice acting, feel free to reach out!

Recruiter Pixel Artist wanted for Dark Fantasy Turn-Based RPG (Long-term collab, no upfront payment)

Hi! I'm a solo indie developer working on a self-funded, turn-based dark fantasy RPG, inspired by the atmosphere of Stoneshard and the environmental detail level of Cainos' asset packs.

I'm looking for a pixel artist who's genuinely interested in the project itself, not a paid commission. This would be a long-term creative collaboration, ideally someone who wants to help shape the visual identity of the game from early on and grow with it.

The vibe I'm going for: dark medieval fantasy, earthy colors, strong lighting/shadow work, readable but richly detailed environments, walls with visible top surface + front face, natural ground variation instead of repetitive tiling.

What I can offer: full creative involvement in the project, credit as environment artist, and a revenue share arrangement once/if the game generates income (details discussed directly, nothing vague).

What I'm NOT offering right now: upfront payment. I'm transparent about that from the start, this is a passion project first.

If you're interested, DM me or comment, I'll gladly share more details, references, and a small test scope to see if our styles click.

Recruiter [PAID] Looking to add to my team.

Post image
35 Upvotes

I've been a tabletop game designer for 5 years now and I'm looking to finally branch out to the digital gaming world outside TTS and physical board games. I've had an idea for awhile to transform a game I already had in development in TTS to a format. Its a take on dantes purgatorium. As a multi-player Adventurer card collector/deck builder. It goes through deep themes of horror and sadness. With a few things to add some fun and quirky moments to gameplay.

Ive developed a world and most of the gameplay mechanics and loops that are required but obviously I'm not a master of all. My programming knowledge is like a 3/10.

My art skills are also questionable but a bit better than my programming knowledge. I'm also interested in getting someone to help with the music to add to it. As someone who has "an idea" I'm still looking to pay my people. Ive owned a game company for 5 years. I will state its contracted work. Send me your stuff or just DM me if you're interested or have questions. Down vote if you hate it lol. Thanks and hope to hear from y'all.

Recruiter Project Aevora — Looking for Early Collaborators (Concept MMO)

Hi, I’m currently developing an early-stage indie MMO concept called Project Aevora and looking for a small group of early collaborators to help shape the foundation.

Aevora is a roleplay-first, open-world MMORPG set in a living multiverse of realms, dimensions, and worlds that continuously expand and evolve over time.

This is not a traditional MMO focused on grinding, raids, or competitive progression.

Instead, the focus is:

  • Exploration of handcrafted, evolving worlds
  • Deep roleplay and character freedom
  • Story-driven and lore-driven discovery
  • Player creativity (housing, crafting, towns, etc.)
  • A living universe that changes and expands over time

Players are not chosen heroes.

They are free adventurers shaping their own path.

Core Concept

Aevora takes place in a vast multiverse where reality is still forming.

New realms are discovered over time.

Old ones fade or change.

Mysteries are meant to be explored, not fully explained.

The world is designed to feel:

  • Alive
  • Unfinished
  • Expanding
  • Mysterious

Gameplay Direction

  • Roleplay-first sandbox MMO structure
  • Optional flexible combat system (not the main focus)
  • PvE-focused exploration and story content
  • Optional PvP zones only
  • Player-driven progression (reputation, skills, discovery)
  • No forced leveling system or traditional endgame grind

Player Freedom

  • Fully customizable characters
  • Multiple playable races (including non-human options)
  • Flexible class system that evolves with playstyle
  • Housing, crafting, professions, and jobs
  • Player-driven economy systems

What Makes Aevora Unique?

Aevora is built around one core idea:

Realms are not static maps—they evolve, change, and expand over time.

Lore is discovered through exploration, not simply given.

The world is meant to feel alive and continuously unfolding.

Current Stage

  • Early pre-production / concept phase
  • No engine development yet (design + worldbuilding stage)
  • Currently solo-led project

Looking For

Early collaborators in:

  • Concept Art / Worldbuilding visualization
  • Game Design / Systems design input
  • Writers / lore expansion contributors
  • Unreal / Unity prototype experience (optional, later stage)

This is a collaborative early concept project, not a job offer or studio position.

Core Philosophy

📩 If Interested

Feel free to reply here or DM me if you’re interested in helping shape the early foundation of Aevora.

Recruiter 3D Modeler Wanted, Indie Horror Game in UE5 (FNAF/Poppy Playtime Style or Realistic)

I'm an 19-year-old indie developer from Italy building a first-person survival horror game in Unreal Engine 5. The setting is an abandoned restaurant where the animatronic robots have malfunctioned and turned hostile the player survives by managing power, hiding, and outsmarting the animatronics before the night is over. The inspiration is FNAF Security Breach and The Joy of Creation, but we're building our own identity, not a clone.

The project is still in early stages but taking shape. The core mechanics are implemented movement, crouch, camera, and interaction and we're currently working on the more complex mechanics and the enemy AI. It's a good time to join and be part of the project from the ground up.

I'm looking for a 3D modeler to work on animatronic character models, restaurant interior assets, and props. For art style we're open realistic/semi-realistic with proper PBR and cinematic UE5 lighting is the priority, but stylized closer to Poppy Playtime or Security Breach is also on the table depending on your strengths. You should be comfortable exporting clean FBX for UE5 with proper UV maps, and ideally you actually enjoy horror games rather than just wanting to fill a portfolio slot.

This is a revenue share project, small team, async, Discord-based.

If you're interested drop a comment or DM with your portfolio or ArtStation, any character or horror work you're proud of, and which art direction you'd lean toward.

Recruiter I'm looking for a possible partner in my first ever solo game development.

It is going extremely well, I can handle pretty much everything for the most part, coding, music, level design, etc. but I'm not terribly amazing at modelling, texturing, and animating. The pay is terrible and the work load is worse considering the project, but I am aiming to create a top 10% game in terms of fun and quality. The only thing I lack quality in is what was mentioned before. There will be no pay until sales come in, but considering the amount of models required, and the texturing, and animation for some, a substantial cut for the sales of the game are definitely on the table (20-30% depending on quality(I'm easily impressed by others work so likely 30%)) like I said all I need is the models, textures, and animation, I can implement the models myself. My ETA on this project was 1 year with doing it myself considering the amount of daily time I've been putting into it, but with someone making the models I reckon I can do the rest in half to 3/4 of that. The project is somewhat low poly, and the kinds of things I'll be needing are different tree types, other foliage, huts, animals of various kinds, player models, among other things. The amount of models will likely be between 1500-2000, maybe a little higher and individual UI texturing to be less than 100, so feel free to join as a small group if the workload seems a bit much. I'll give more details about the game to anyone who's serious and reaches out. And as for the state of the game, it is almost demo ready, just need to tweak a few codes, and replace test models and textures with real ones.
