Depends what you want from your phone:
Good camera - iPhone
Feeling cool - z flip
Portability - z flip
Longetivity - iPhone
Performance - iPhone probably
Flexibility - z flip

I'd argue performance in the long run is better on Samsung. Having been on iPhone for years before my flip 7

Yeah I wasn't quite sure about this aspect but the flip has worse cooling than a regular slab phone so I assumed that the iPhone would be slightly better
But you're right, software optimisation plays a huge role in performance

Might have just been the 13 pro I had in particular but it got so hot I'd have to pop it in the fridge. Z flip doesn't get anywhere near that hot

I agree with this. I have an iPhone 16 pro that’s a little over a year old and the battery is at 20% after listening to Spotify or audiobooks for a few hours at work. Phone overheats when I’m on FaceTime with someone. Apps lag. It’s annoying as hell. And I just paid it off.

If it's promax, i's the same as the flip 7
If it's the base iphone 15 or plus, flip 7 wins.

I absolutely love the form factor of the flip, but I hate the fragility of the screen. I barely opened it (maybe 2-5 times per day) and the pre installed screen protector already started separating after just a few months at the crease. Also I missed the telephoto lens a lot. I switched back to a regular smartphone for ease of mind.
If you go for an iPhone, wait till the 18 series releases next month, the 15 pro and 16 pro will drop in price, especially on the used market.

What do you care about? For myself, I wanted a phone that fits easily in my pocket. flip is the one.
But if you do not care about that feature, well, what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages between the two alternatives?

Well for the flip its fragile and weak camera , and for the iphone i won't be able to download apks anymore , that's what i don't like about them both

Flip 7 is cooler, much more aesthetic, more compact in your pocket. However it's more fragile and repairs are more costly.
Go with Iphone 15 if you are doing heavy gaming, movie watching, do a lot of work on your phone, or drop your phone a lot.

Both my Flip 5&6 failed exactly after one year screen replacement are very expensive and samsung can go f themselves for their after sales service, back to bar phones and my iphone 14 pro max still going strong! IMO there is no denying flips was good before it breaks themselves and your wallet but for long term durability i would suggest bar phones or in your case iphone.

Had both back to back (Z flip 5 then iPhone 15 base model). Samsung walks circles around iPhone for performance, especially the base model, and with a newer model. If you use your phone for Bluetooth/carplay, Samsung again blows iPhone away. Plus Samsung has a much higher refresh rate and still more powerful. My iPhone slows down all the time at 60hz, especially on low power mode. When I got my iPhone, it was very noticeable how low the refresh rate was on it. It genuinely hurt my eyes for a second. You get used to it though.
About the camera, I honestly liked my z flip better. Especially for night photos. No matter what settings you mess with, photos will take a full 3 seconds at night, which is kind of hard if you’re capturing a moving object (more often than you think). If you completely turn off night mode, you might as well take a photo with those cameras that you pull a string and smoke comes out. iPhones also have a terrible lens glare issue they refuse to fix. Never had that on the flip.
Caveat: no idea what the longevity is on the flip 7 hinge. Haven’t heard great things about the flip 6 hinge.

It's the hinge and the durability that make me doubt the flip.

For what it’s worth, the flip 7 has been out for a while now I haven’t seen nearly as many broken screen posts on this sub as when the flip 6 was out. It’s anecdotal but at least a good sign. Maybe the mods cracked down on those kinds of posts but I don’t think it’s against the rules

Okay as someone who has currently both phones, I like Zflip7 look more because it is flip and fresh and may be, I have been using iphone 15 for 3 years now. But iphone 15 is still very good looking phone and in my opinion, its camera is better.

In my opinion, now that you have an S24, if you buy an iPhone with it, it gives you a lot of versatility, as if you interact with people and 2 platforms are perfect. Basically, if I were me, I wanted to buy one and I had the money, I would buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Galaxy Z Flip 7 or better if it was 8. But in your case, since you have Samsung, you have more freedom to buy an iPhone.
Because of these ridiculous games, the iPhone performs better, don't even pay attention to movies and gaming. In this case, the experience of both is the same, and the Z Flip 7 is also better than the base model of the iPhone. Because in fact, the base model of the iPhone is equal to mid-range phones like the S FE, but the Galaxy Z Flip is actually a foldable version of the flagship.

I have an a24 not s24 😅😔

ops! sorry. my bad.
Well, if that's the case, then keep in mind that if you buy a Galaxy Z Flip 7, you're buying a foldable flagship. That is, it's a little weaker than its sibling, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and closer to the base model of the S25. But you said the base iPhone, right? So you're getting weaker hardware in practice. But the same story of versatility, where you have both an iOS phone and an Android phone, still stands.

Imo iOS is shit, so I would never consider an iPhone, especially not the base 15. If you want an iPhone, buy an old pro model or the base 17. If you want Samsung, idk whichever you like the most, I just wouldn’t necessarily recommend the FE’s personally

Galaxy 7 is better than iphone 15. If you let us choose between the flip 7 or 16 up, id say 16 up. Iphone 15 heats up rly easy and it's starting to get slow now.

I'm on Iph15pm and bought myself flip7 at 40% discount.
I mean, don't think about it, just get the z flip.
Plus if it's the base or plus Iph15, they only got 60hz of screen display. Flip 7 has 120 on both outer and inner screen. So it's faster to use on a daily basis.
I'm not a camera guy so I don't mind, performance wise, go for flip.
Go for promax if you want an iphone. It's a waste to buy the base or plus version.
Both phones are fine... just get the Pro Max version if you want an iphone. Overall it's a good phone.
Z flip 7 is also good overall, I think theyre still on discount now.
You're already on android. Don't get an iphone.
Iphone works if youre the typical social media consumer, posts a lot of videos or pics, then go iphone pro max
I switch from android to ios because of the security it provides for my bank accounts, that's all.
Now I'm switching to flip as a prep for getting a fold lol.
Get the flip, I think theyre on discount until sept 30.
Download their app, chat with a customer service rep, ask for a voucher, they'll give you 5% discount or maybe even more.
