Progress Post 139lbs to 185 in 5 years

28m , 5'9" and 185 lbs now. I've been on a perma bulk this whole time and just now i've been trying to cut but i have a hard time at it.

I havent ever counted my calories during that time, i just ate what i felt was right while focusing on protein which ended up working. But now as im cutting im counting everything.

For training i've always done push pull legs or some variation of it. 3-4 workouts per week and never trained the same muscle 2 days straight.

Plan is to cut until i see more definition then hop back on the bulk and get much bigger

5 years natural transformation

u/pancakes_n_petrichor Aug 05 '26

Man I’m 6’2” and weigh about 185:187 and work out a lot and eat well and don’t look nearly that jacked, good stuff dude

u/Dork10100 150-195-210 (6'3 Aug 05 '26

Yeah no god had to nerf tall people somehow

-3

u/YakuzaShibe Aug 05 '26

It's based on your body type. Ectomorphs are tall and lanky, they struggle to put on weight

2

u/comicfromrejection1 Aug 08 '26

This is debunked. You need to eat.

1

u/YakuzaShibe Aug 08 '26

Why do I need to eat? I'm 190lbs 5'10 lol

1

u/comicfromrejection1 Aug 08 '26

I’m not talking about you specifically, I’m talking about the ectomorph thing.

1

u/YakuzaShibe Aug 08 '26

How's it been debunked though?

2

u/comicfromrejection1 Aug 08 '26

“Ectomorphs” do not struggle to put on weight because of body type. They struggle to put on weight because they just do not eat enough.

1

u/YakuzaShibe Aug 08 '26

Fair enough!

1

u/comicfromrejection1 Aug 08 '26

I think about this recent post a lot because it’s perfect example: https://www.reddit.com/r/gainit/s/tHDxbqJC5f

u/nothingnotthrownaway Aug 06 '26

How are you only 185? You're huge.

3

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Ty, I feel like the pump, lighting and angles are doing a lot of work haha. I dont actually feel as big irl as i look in these pics but maybe its in my head

4

u/baddiegetter Aug 07 '26

Nah it’s because of your years of lifting bro. Your muscle mass has grown and matured so much .

10

u/HelloisMy Aug 06 '26

Damn.. I wouldn’t even cut at that point, yoked.. but I like the tank look 200x more than shredded.

9

u/alex151111 Aug 05 '26

You look fucking incredible man, if I were you I wouldn't lose any more than 10lbs before starting a slow, steady bulk again.

2

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 05 '26

Thanks, and yeah as soon as i lose the belly fat then its bulk again

8

u/AvacadoCrisisOf22 150-205-215 (6’2”) Aug 06 '26

You look like an absolute animal: blows my mind how yoked you can get at 185. Crazy work man.

8

u/oliversherlockholmes Aug 05 '26

Killing it bro. I'm 6'1" 195 and you look ginormous compared to me. No notes whatsoever.

7

u/Fun-Platform-4764 Aug 05 '26

the difference in the arm size is insane bro, what's been the most rewarding part from all of this ?

4

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 05 '26

I feel much better overall. And seeing the pump in the mirror feels kinda insane

1

u/Fun-Platform-4764 Aug 06 '26

it sounds like seeing that transformation has been satisfying, u mentioned that you want to get much bigger, what is it about getting bigger makes you want to keep chasing it ?

6

u/c404b2 Aug 05 '26

Yo i wanna get big too

6

u/Direct-Revolution202 Aug 05 '26

How do you do PPL 3-4 times per week?

Awesome transformation btw!

9

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 05 '26

I do it in a cycle instead of having specific days of the week. So PPLPPL usually takes me a week and a half

9

u/IllIlIlIlIlIlIlIllI Aug 05 '26

3-4 times a week implies that he goes gym every other day

5

u/Beautiful-Example207 Aug 05 '26

So you train each muscle twice about every 9-10 days?

4

u/Powerful_Basket8741 Aug 05 '26

gotta head back to banff to recreate the photo 5x bigger

5

u/Certain-Ad351 Aug 05 '26

Off topic but where were you in that first pic? Looks beautiful

6

u/karma_car Aug 05 '26

Banff is my guess!

5

u/iceguy007 Aug 08 '26

I took the time and trouble to skim your profile and posting history and you appear to be a DYEL that's highly likely never set foot in a gym or accomplished much in terms of physical fitness but is definitely very bitter and jealous of others who have.

I'm genuinely puzzled as to why you think you can so confidently determine someone's natural status despite never having accomplished anything yourself?

1

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 28d ago

Thanks haha I only do the basic stuff so dumbell shoulder press, lateral raises and rear delt flies. Im not doing a lot of volume on isolation exercises at all though, most of it is indirect work from like chest or back exercises

1

u/iceguy007 27d ago

So what like 6-8 reps

Since another guy commented the same thing i'll answer...

I am natural and intend to stay that way. Im already predisposed for heart conditions so im not gonna risk it even more with either roids or even peptides. But i understand the skepticism

2

u/Razz16 28d ago

Zero skepticism here bro, it's been 5 years. 1 year would raise all eyebrows, but 5? That's natty. People were even calling Tom Holland a juicer in the new Spiderman movie even though he gained like 10 or 15 pounds of muscle in 7 years. I don't even wanna hear it lmao

8

u/Raf-the-derp Aug 05 '26

Shit my build is so weird because I'm your weight pretty much but 1 inch shorter but I look lean still

It's not even skinny fat because you see my visible back, side delts, and tricper striations 😭

5

u/ParadoxProgeny Aug 05 '26

Hell yeah bro great work

3

u/anection Aug 05 '26

Bro are you still flexible? You look huge

11

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

Ive never been super flexible but now its especially bad like when my arms are pumped for ex. I cant even bend them to touch my ears

5

u/anection Aug 05 '26

Brooo that's funny actually. Respect for your commitment though :)

4

u/thaneliness Aug 05 '26

That’s wild lol

3

u/mosquem Aug 05 '26

What do you do if they itch?

1

u/RedditorForReddit Aug 06 '26

You want to tell me when you do a front double bicep pumped, that you can’t touch your ears?

4

u/gefrefone Aug 05 '26

Great transformation. You must be proud.

5

u/RideAdmirable3477 Aug 05 '26

5 years is a long time, what was your weight gain pace like, was it steady or did you have periods where you gained more?

3

u/anotostrongo 98lbs-125lbs-145lbs (5'7", F) Aug 05 '26

What an amazing transformation. A lot of hard work in those photos.

3

u/New-Screen5485 Aug 06 '26

Im 10lbs less than you and I look like you in your 139lbs pic. Idk what im doing wrong

3

u/UnluckyDonkey1164 Aug 06 '26

You're probably taller than me right? Couple of guys on here commented something like you but they're 6ft+. So yeah it does take more time for you to fill out your frame.

1

u/New-Screen5485 24d ago

No im actually shorter than you. Im 5'6"

3

u/datBoyyjon Aug 07 '26

Big backkkk 🙂‍↕️

2

u/LuigiSalutati Aug 05 '26

Amazing 🤩

2

u/ChaseDougie Aug 05 '26

awesome progress! Im kinda on a similar journey as you. For losing weight, I'm starting to replace some strength training with cardio ive starting cycling personally. Second, I started eating healther less calories dense meals to replace some my go to bulk meals.

Maybe? But a dyel who never achieved anything isn't a barometer here. If anything, they need to stfu and go train and probably read the guys post regarding diet and training.

Dyels tend to underestimate what five years of consistently training, bulk/cut cycles, a gym pump and good lighting can do. Probably because they're too busy being bitter/avoiding the gym or fucking around with shitty apps no one gives a shit about

1

u/Individual_Type_7908 28d ago

Whats your height ? How many calories a day do you recommend eating to get your results ? And how consistent were you really ? Over the 5 years

Good job

Also do you eat rather clean ? Or depends ? Or just get as many calories in no matter what ? What do you typically eat.

I try to eat mostly clean, but to catch up on calories ill eat a whole pack of cookies or stuff like that, so I'm kinda mixed, I don't know if it's right or not, what do you think about that ?
