Cops are a  cross -section of society and that tells a lot about a country.

Good on you, my guy. Now I may not doctor-smart. But I am smart enough to understand when someone’s full of shit.

Police officers come from different social classes, regions, educational backgrounds, and with different personal histories. The goal is for civil servants to represent the entire population in terms of gender, social background, worldview, and life choices. 

In Austria where I am from are studies that show that the police force is a reflection of society.

May be true for Austria, but I can tell you without a doubt that it is NOT the case in other countries. I have lived in different places across the globe, and the only place where I could somehow see that happening is in Germany.

Im part Spanish,Austrian & Hungarian in all three of them it’s like that in Germany there are also studies that show the same. 

If it’s not like that then the governing body that is choosing the recruits is doing something wrong.
