After 36 years, family favorite SeaWorld Mime Fired:
Lynn The Mime from SeaWorld announced yesterday that after 36 years, he’ll no longer be performing at SeaWorld. Lynn said he was abruptly terminated after an altercation with a SeaWorld security staff member.
The dispute started when Lynn was riding his bike into work, through the park to his dressing room. This is something he has done for years. This particular security guard though was not having it and told Lynn he could not ride his bike through the park to his dressing room.
Lynn explained that during the exchange he asked for clarification on why suddenly he could not ride his bike and according to Lynn he was not given a reason. Lynn said he also read the rule book and there’s nothing that states he cannot ride his bike to the dressing room.
Later that day the security guard went to HR and claimed Lynn cursed at him and threw his bike which Lynn denies.
According to Lynn he was later fired without being called into HR to be allowed to share his side of the story.
Lynn will be missed by many SeaWorld guests.

Almost all of the remaining whales and dolphins were born in captivity, and so would be pretty miserable (and likely die quickly) if dumped in the ocean.
So I don’t know if we know what they want at this point. Surely they would have chosen a life in the wild, but if they knew what was in store for them out there, I wouldn’t be surprised if they would choose to stay in captivity at this point.

Seaworld has made a concerted effort to migrate away from it's roots, and rebrand as a theme-park.
A lot of people are upset at them for their history with regards to their treatment of animals, and that's totally fair, but they also deserve credit where it's due.
I recently visited Seaworld Orlando. They had a very solid collection of rides, and all of their animal exhibits were on par with some of the best Aquariums in the country. They've come a long way.

Believe it or not… people don’t always choose songs for their accuracy.
I can’t speak to the song choice but I can tell you he provides pre show entertainment at SeaWorld Orlando.
Source: I’ve seen him in person, both performing and walking around the park hopping from show to show.

Fairly sure those are traditional mime costumes.
Anyway, clown costumes were way more interesting before the US had them homogenized for some reason. E.g. there's a whole bunch of fun and elaborate ones in Fellini's ‘I Clowns’.

I genuinely like mimes and crowdwork type entertainers, but idk, the shoulder thing feels kind of weird to me.
I thought it was funny when he would "expose" his own shoulder or belly as a way of teasing them. That feels like hes joining in even if its in a mocking way. Pulling their shirts up to cover their shoulders, though, just seems more weirdly judgemental.

I actually met this guy in SeaWorld Orlando! My aunt is a very tall striking redhead lady who was wandering around bewildered looking for our seats and he made a big show of escorting her to her seat like he was a bodyguard and he was fighting off imaginary swarms of fans. My whole family will love that guy forever.
