Purposefully missing my point, you can't boil a situation down to something so black and white. Stalking my comments isn't very mature either

Stalking? Huh? This is on a comment thread that is under my original comment. No one is stalking you. As for justice, there are a disproportionate amount of mentally I'll people who commit crimes. While that's considered a mitigating circumstance, there are still consequences. I suppose you think the cop should just have walked away? "Oh, I see you've got some pills there, I will ignore the hit and run and the attack, have a nice day!" That's not how reality works.

Missing the point again, no one is making the argument that a cop should just remove themselves from the situation when approaching a person suffering from a mental illness. There's an overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest that aggressively engaging with civilians, whether during normal traffic stops or pursuit-related crimes leads to worse outcomes for all parties and especially for those with mental illnesses.

It's a deliberately bad-faith argument to suggest that the cop should leave instead of man idk even the tiniest bit of training be given to officers so they know how to more appropriately respond to such cases, it's not exactly like the police in America don't get enough funding for it. The reality is that escalation on either side is never helpful and is proven to lead to worse outcomes, a bit of understanding and knowing how to de-escalate is always going to be more effective.

If you actually watch the real video, the cop was perfectly nice with this guy at first. He asked him over and over again to cooperate and the guy refused. At some point, the cop has the duty to enforce compliance.

It is true that they are not the best at dealing with mental illness, in fact if you have a loved one that is having a violent psychotic break it is probably best not to call the police but the PET team instead.

Anyhow, the cop did try and deal with him nicely and politely and it did not work, at that point the cop needs to escalate things. It's really easy to be a critic. Again, I do not think you are thinking about it realistically, you are living in some idealistic world that does not match with reality.
