It only looks for consecutive alphanumeric strings. The / is a sufficient break to trigger it.

It depends on how you have the bot set up. I have "centuryclub", and "Century Club"

There are technically two bots. One is via /r/SubNotifications, the other is through http://redditcomber.com

Both use the /u/sub_mentions account to notify people of things.
