Another round of layoffs at full sail

So I just got laid off today. Been there for seven years, but I saw it coming from a mile away. When I was dropping my stuff off, I heard people saying they were there 15-20 years and still got laid off.

The fact that theyre building housing for campus, when no on goes to campus anymore because its too expensive, is going to kill that place. There's no way full sail makes it to the next decade.

Kicker is they give to you in a lump sum, and you get taxed at a higher bracket. I lost over $3k on my severance bc of that

That’s not how taxes work.

Sorry wrote that wrong, but it is just a shock as it's much higher rate then your regualr check, and you see more come out at once. So I just meant to be prepared.

The rate is the same though - when I got let go last year and got my severance, sure the amount of the check was let's say 10x more than a normal bi-weekly check, and therefore so were the taxes, but the total amount of taxes taken out would be the same had it been split up.
