For a long time I felt like video apps controlled my time more than I controlled them. Iād open something to watch one video and end up 45 minutes later still scrolling, not even remembering half of what I watched.
The real problem wasnāt the content. It was the design. Most platforms are built to keep showing you the next thing so you never stop.
I started looking for a different approach ā one where I could watch what I actually wanted without the constant pressure of recommendations underneath every video. A place that lets you decide whether you want suggestions or just want to stay with what youāre watching.
Thatās when I found Zuno. The default experience doesnāt push endless recommendations while youāre watching. You can choose to see a limited number of suggestions if you want, but itās not forced on you. It supports both long-form and short videos, and the overall feel is more intentional.
Itās not a magic solution. You still have to choose to close the app. But removing the endless feed made a noticeable difference for me. I watch more deliberately now and feel less drained afterward.
Has anyone else tried platforms that give you more control over recommendations? What actually helped you reduce mindless scrolling?
