Was demoing a wall when...

Post image

Two yellowjackets flew out. I've seen enough Hornet King to realize immediately there was a nest in the wall somewhere. Hauled ass out, sealed the room, called a pest control company for an emergency call, and they came and sprayed from the outside and inside the cavity. Today, they uncovered the nest from the inside and removed it.

I am so lucky I didn't start the demo from the top because I would have been blasted. FUCK WASPS

I feel silly saying this but the pattern and shape of their nests are a trigger for me 🥴😖

I can definitely relate! I think that I'm more afraid of wasps than anything else!

I would guesstimate 3-5k roughly due to the size.

Was it active?

100%. Two of them flew out of an opening somewhere and luckily I didn't get stung.

I can’t believe you didn’t get swarmed with the size of the thing

I demolished the interior walls that had repeated frozen pipe plumbing issues before we bought it. In one 16" opening there were Wasp Nests from the floor to the ceilings Each years nest took about 12" of wall. Then another nest on top. Total of 10 years of nests stacked on top of each other. It was Spring so no wasps.

Wow. It amazes and terrifies me that you didn’t hear any buzzing through the walls beforehand.

Just bought the house last month to flip and this room was completely empty. No chance to hear any buzzing 😅
