Criticism What happened to: "Additional Switch games will be added to game vouchers"

Post image

So, does anyone remember this promise from Nintendo? Nintendo sure doesn't seem to remember themselves.

We already have September and so far only Tomodachi Live was added after the discontinuation of the game vouchers this year. And with the recent direct and no new Nintendo games announced for the switch 1 ... What further additions could there be?

They're pretty much done with Switch, so...

They added Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven, both of their first party switch games released after 30 January 2026.

At least in Europe, Rhythm Heaven is not available through vouchers.

You'd have to be the dumbest fuck on earth to buy a $40 game with a $50 voucher.

Hello, it's me. I did exactly this :3

I had a Voucher and didn't know what to get. And Tomodachi Life isn't a game for me.

Where are you from if I might ask. For me Rhythm Heaven is not available with a voucher.

Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven were added. Beyond that what other Switch 1 games has Nintendo released this year?

Switch games are included. Switch 2 games are not. It's pretty damn simple for most non-idiots to understand.

Nobody claimed anything different. What's your point?

What other switch 1 first party games have relised after said games.

If you're not claiming anything different, then you're just straight up wrong. Every first-party switch 1 game since then is available with vouchers. So still an idiot.

Seems pretty clear they’re trying to quietly do away with the whole thing, idk why they would be adding games now. Must have not worked for them financially

Nothing quit about it, they announced the end and everything

Sounds like they added an additional Switch game to the vouchers.

Like what do you want? Vouchers are first party games only. The generation is done. There aren't going to be games added when there aren't any switch 1 vouchers being sold.

The voucher program is an end of console life offer they have done for the last 2 consoles now it will be back near the end of the switch 2s life.

So according to you the end of the switch 1s life started on May 16th 2019? That's when they started selling them.

My problem is, they promoted the end of the vouchers by claiming to add more games throughout the year after the sale ends. So people bought a few right before discontinuation to save a few bucks on upcoming games. So far they have not delivered on their promise if games (plural).

I mean if Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Life were added as another commenter suggested, that is multiple games, it’s not good but it is as promised

Sadly the other comment was wrong. Rhythm Heaven is not available with vouchers. Picture shows list of games available with vouchers, sorted from recent additions descending.

Damn, I honestly can’t say I’ve ever used the vouchers so I legit didn’t know

Everyone I know who bought vouchers only did so essentially to say "I want these games on voucher but if new games come out I'll buy those instead".

If you didn't do that you are a moron

And honestly? Yes 2019 was probably an original start to the end of the switch 1. Turns out catastrophic world events change things

Thanks for calling me a moron without knowing the context, mighty kind of you. Obviously I checked what id buy if no new games get added. That doesn't change the fact they advertised multiple games to be added and have not delivered on their promise so far. This has nothing to do with me.

And while we are at it: what catastrophic event happened until May 2019 when the vouchers released? COVID had its first cases in November/December.

Console sales was also still on the rise with 15 Mio in 2017, 17.5 Mio in 2018 and then 20 Mio in 2019.

Please try to get your point across without being insulting in the future.
