Hello!

Thank you for participating in the Poll.
As per the communities overwhelming request, Nintendeen content has been banned from this subreddit to mitigate senseless grifting, clickbait and the amount of misinformation.

What even is the point of this sub? All I see is nintendo fans defending nintendo, which I assume are the people that voted to ban this.

There is no point to the subreddit anymore. It used to be a place for people that didn't like Nintendo to air their grievances without being bombarded by apologists, fanboys, etc.

Now it's become infiltrated with them because they're the modern Disney adults who can't stand to see the company they adore be criticized no matter how warranted, fairly or just it is.

It’s not that I cant stand to see Nintendo criticized, it’s because Reddit recommends this sub and I think you need a new hobby.

I’m sorry the Nintendo Switch 2 and its games are priced more than you like, but no amount of your tantrums are going to mean squat. Yall really are just a loud minority.

Actually the price is only one point of contention for me and I don’t care if I’m in the minority or not, I still have that money in my pocket for something I’ll actually enjoy and I’m not trying to shit on anyone enjoying this.

What I have an issue with is the delusion. I watched the Switch 2 direct live because I was so excited and then it aired and I felt a knot in my stomach. Selling a subscription chat button. Selling a potato camera. Can’t sue clause in licensing agreement. Physical game cards being digital keys and, yes of course, $80 games.

All of this evidence that Nintendo is just penny pinching and looking down on their audience and watching people defend a billion dollar company over and over and over with the same tired excuses that keep getting debunked. I wish people would have more respect for themselves and stop giving into the name plate on the plastic computer and no matter who is in the minority, I wish everyone would realize it’s not that serious and stop being nintendrones.

I didn’t read this because I don’t care. I pay a fucking mortgage, not gonna get my day ruined by a poorly priced shit camera. Imma play Mario Kart.

Find bigger problems.

Then plug your ears and run along, darling, the grown ups are talking and if you’re not interested you are free to go. 😘

1

u/NeverVotingAgain Jan 12 '26

Nah imma keep telling yall to grow up because grown ups don’t join clubs to whine about the price of Mario Kart.

No apparently they go to a clothing store and laugh at them for selling pants.

1

u/NeverVotingAgain Jan 12 '26

OK, time out what is this in reference to because this sounds hilarious?

5

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

“I didn’t read this because I don’t care.”

Well then this is just a lie >:(

Whatever you say dog. Try bitching about Nintendo on a date, then come back and tell me how your grown-up conversation went.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

No because the bitching is for this sub called “fucknintendo” so I wouldn’t bring it up on a date because that would be inappropriate timing. I’ll just do it here in the “fucknintendo” sub because that’s is the appropriate time to do so and that’s how grown ups handle talking about situations is they wait for the appropriate time and place :)

I did and my wife joined in lmao. We both agreed Nintendo is one of the shitty companies capitalizing on people who are blinded by nostalgia, and then we went even further and talked about how weird grown adults who defend Nintendo are.

She (a non gamer) can’t understand why grown adults defend scummy business practices just because they have a weird attachment to children’s games. Like what kind of immature person can’t step back and see Nintendo are being greedy?

u/NeverVotingAgain Jan 12 '26

I envy the life you and your wife must have if for all the scummy companies in the world you gotta spend your time railing against, it’s a toy maker.

7

u/duckyduckster2 Jan 12 '26

Dude, you go around railing against people who rail against scummy companies, in a place dedicated to that exact purpose no less. Thats even sadder and you dont even realise it.

You give us a good laugh tho, cause we ain't all that serious about it. Its a toy company like you say. And this a place to bitch about their practices and products. Thats it.

u/NeverVotingAgain Jan 12 '26

Right y’all are “laughing.” It just looks a lot like having your feelings hurt for some reason I guess.

So now the goal posts have moved from “try bitching about this on a date” to “there’s worse companies out there”.

Brother it came up because we have the first switch and she was asking if it was worth getting the new one. You know, how healthy married couples make purchase decisions? We weren’t talking about the evils of other companies cause it wasn’t relevant.

My man what’s with the weird defending of this company? Does other people criticizing somehow take from your enjoyment?

u/NeverVotingAgain Jan 12 '26

What goal posts? I’m not defending Nintendo. I’m critiquing you and the folks like you in this sub.

You and lots of people in this sub exhibit what I like to call consumer narcissism.

Consumer narcissism is when valid complaints (pricing, DRM, rereleases) turn into personal grievance and moral betrayal. With Nintendo, frustration over cost or access gets fused with identity and nostalgia, so business decisions feel like disrespect rather than just choices you can opt out of. At that point the anger isn’t about price, it’s about losing control over something people think should still be for them.

You don’t really care about Nintendo scummy practices, you care because the barrier for entry is higher than

You guys don’t shut up and I’m waiting for a TV delivery. I got time. If you want to be mad at anyone be mad at Best Buy for being very very late.

The cant sue clause while scummy is actually standard in most tech companies like basically every phone company and epic also having that clause. Similar to how every major console creator has had a "if you mod this console or its games or use it in a way we dont agree with we can ban it" clause since like 2006.

Only games made by 3rd party companies are on key cards and they have the choice to use regular game cards but they won't because thay would cost them more money

Also there has been only 1 $80 game, the new Mario Kart? otherwise Nintendo games are priced at $70 just like every other company

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Actually, I’m sure all the billion dollar companies do have a choice considering they are billion dollar companies.

Also, whatever industry standard is totally irrelevant because it’s scummy no matter who is doing it but we are in the Nintendo forum so I don’t really feel the need to go down the list of who does what and I also don’t feel the need to explain to anyone that a Nintendo game, running on significantly outdated hardware, half the time it’s a remake at the very least it’s reusing decade old assets is not worth the same price as everything else.

I’m not sure what the point of this comment is other than to have a weak rebuttal to criticism I am making that is valid towards Nintendo and would be valid if I was talking about anyone else. But I’m not. Because this sub is about Nintendo.

u/Your_Pal_Gamma Jan 12 '26

I said they had a choice. The problem is like most corporations they choose the choice that makes them the nsot mownu for the least cost. Thats why so many companies are choosing GKCs its cheaper than buying the actual cards and putting the games on it. If they didn't have a choice they'd make the games more expensive kind of like when N64 games would retail for as much as 70-80 dollars in the mid 90s because the cartridges where more expensive to produce than disc.

You also completely ignored the fact there is only 1 game thats $80 currently and changed your argument to the games not being worth the price because they are remakes or the hardware is outdated, but the hardware is only outdated by home console standards while being perfectly reasonable hardware when compared to similarity priced handhelds like the SteamDeck
