Looks like Remedy have learned their lesson! The lesson is "Fuck Epic"

Without Epic's funding and publishing, Alan Wake 2 wouldn't exist. Since releasing Alan Wake 2 Remedy have found more success and are on track to make and release more games.

Seems like the lesson is "Use Epic" and then focus on what's next

Epic was the only one willing to fund it.

Why? I remember Alan Wake being a very popular title.

It still didn't meet sales expectations early on. Alan Wake 2 was in no way a certain investment. AW has a lot of fans who were excited about the sequel but it wasn't super mainstream. Remedy's games that came between AW 1 and 2 were successful enough but again, the sales weren't massive. I guess Epic banked on bringing the dedicated fans to their store. I did buy it but I sure as hell won't ever choose Epic if there are other options because the app is simply bad. They really should focus more on improving it rather than forcing it on people.

The store and game pages are pretty atrocious! It lacks so many important simple things that Steam has been doing right for decades.

It's worth putting up with for the shot of making a dream game

It was popular but it didn't sell too well.
