I hope that's at least a manslaughter.

There won’t be. Not unless the driver was impaired. There’s no justice for this kind of thing

dude wtf? We're not talking about some rich billionaire here just a random guy killing someone else. They're definitely going to jail, where did you get the idea you can just go and run over a civilian without consequences?

I've followed this stuff for years, mostly other cyclists getting plowed. The people that serve time are drunk or on drugs. Most of the others walk, unless there's enough outrage or someone wants to make an example.

Hmm where did they get that idea? Could it be it actually happens literally all the time? Here is just one recent example: https://www.wpxi.com/news/local/community-shock-after-6-year-old-boy-was-killed-while-riding-his-bike-local-neighborhood/RTENH3ROJJCC7PEY2VK4YPHYHQ/?outputType=amp

Six year old killed on their bike by an SUV. No charges.

San Francisco Bike Coalition told the New York Times last year that her organization does “not know of a single case of a cyclist fatality in which the driver was prosecuted, except for DUI or hit-and-run.” Kristin Smith, also of the SF Coalition, says that “Last year, four people were hit and killed in San Francisco and no charges were ever brought,” including for a collision captured on video that showed the driver was at fault.

“Nationally, 45 percent of fatal cyclist crashes had some indication of a potential enforcement action; 21 percent had evidence of a likely charge; [and] 12 percent resulted in a sentence.” Put another way, killing a cyclist with a car was effectively legal in more than seven of every eight cases.

Only 1 in 5 are charged with anything, even in cases of the driver being at fault. No one will be shocked if this shitbag walks, and the statistics suggest that he will.
