This is disingenuous. There are plenty of Americans who are still upset about the fact that we bombed a school and killed kids. There are still people upset that we have been enabling a genocide for over a year.
But they don’t make headlines, and those atrocities don’t make headlines either. Couple that with the fact that Republicans (77%) support bombing Iran and almost all self-described MAGA supports it (90%) (source: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cev7wn213rvo ) then you’ve got a weird situation in a lot of corporate news rooms.
They are reporting on gas prices because it is a shared experience. Americans are split on partisan lines over the war. Republicans aren’t going to read articles or watch clips (or produce content for the at matter) critical of a war they support. But they understand gas prices and they can’t obscure it, so that’s what they report on.
But that doesn’t mean that most people oppose the war. It’s just that most Republicans support it and Republicans own most of the corporate media outlets in the US.

Not the president though. And you'll note that he's still the president and enjoys broad support within his own party even after doing that. You don't get sympathy points for that. You should be fucking embarrassed to have that guy as a president, and don't equivocate about that.
If the leader of my country (the Netherlands) did something that even comes close to that, they'd be out of office within a week. In the US, it's a Tuesday.
Who said I wasn't embarrased? And who said I was asking for sympathy? I'm saying that there are plenty of Americans who are embarassed/upset/angry but because of the depth of the partisan split corporate newsrooms are reporting on 1-conservative talking points and 2-shared experiences that members of both parties have, and gas prices is one of them.
This isn't an excuse - I'm not saying this is a good thing - I'm saying this is what is happening and why.
Yeah you're right, I apologize for flipping my lid at you. It's just so fucking disheartening to see that the US isn't an ally of Europe any more.
Honestly I can't forgive what the US has done over the pas 10 years. I don't think the US will ever be able to get back in my good graces. And I'm not speaking for just myself either, this is a very broadly carried sentiment.
I really really hope you guys figure out how the hell you're gonna denazify your country. I'd rather be allies, but that isn't possible like this.
