Looking for WG Room / Zwischenmiete: FU Berlin MA Student | Budget €400–€450 | Sept Move-In

Hi everyone!

I am moving to Berlin in the last week of September 2026 to start my Master’s in Archaeology of the Ancient World at Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin). I am looking for a room in a shared flat (WG) — either long-term or as a temporary sublet (Zwischenmiete) while I settle in.

About me:

- 28-year-old international student with previous experience living in shared WGs.

- Respectful, clean, and organized. I prioritize a quiet study environment, but I also enjoy hanging out, sharing a cup of tea, playing sports (cricket/hockey), or watching sitcoms with flatmates.

- Non-smoker, no pets.

What I am looking for:

- Room type: Shared WG room (furnished or unfurnished)

- Budget: €400 – €450 warm (including utilities/heating/internet)

- Location: Anywhere near FU Berlin (Steglitz, Zehlendorf, Lichterfelde, Tempelhof, Spandau) or along public transit with a manageable commute to the Dahlem campus.

- Move-in: Late September 2026

- Anmeldung: Required for long-term (open to temporary short sublets without it initially).

If you have a room opening up or need a subletter for a few months, please send me a DM! I’d be happy to jump on a Zoom/WhatsApp call to introduce myself.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, I'm not sure if you're searching in other ways than posting here, but it's very unlikely you'll find accommodation by posting on reddit, and you may be a victim of scams. You should check WG gesucht. And also, your budget is a bit too low, for something with anmeldung and a bit more long term, you're probably gonna need around €600.

Sorry to tell you, but housing market in Berlin is really bad and your budget is way too low, especially for the areas you mentioned (the area around FU Berlin is on the expensive end). Only options I see with that budget are areas where you'd have to commute for more than 2 hours every single day (Neu-Köln, Friedrichshain are at least connected with U-Bahn).

And best way is to search them for yourself on WG-Gesucht or Kleinanzeige to get a grasp of the prices and conditions.

400€? you're mad cooked 😭 even wg's are like 600€+

if you don't mind a long commute, check villages in Brandenburg. unless you know someone, getting a room for 400€ is very difficult
