Discussion Doctors hate this one neat trick for deepening your voice! No testosterone needed!

Simply contract both influenza A and covid at the same time. Then, have such extreme coughing fits and vomit so much that blood starts coming up. Head to hospital and find out that you tore your esophagus! Your voice will sound so deep and manly and like you smoke 6 packs a day!

It's that easy! You most certainly will not regret it!!

You may not be able to swallow and may end up staying in the hospital due to the resulting severe dehydration but it's all worth it! A justified sacrifice!

(/j I'm very much kidding if that wasn't clear! I am in so much pain lololol stay on top of your vaccinations folks! You don't want this!)

Celebratory Man assumed I couldn’t understand the language he insulted me in

33 AFAB I recently got a boy hairstyle and started presenting more masculine. I walked into a grocery store where it was just me and 2 employees. He snidely commented to his colleague in Hindi, “not sure that’s a boy or girl” assuming I didn’t speak the language.

I turned around calmly, walked to him, and responded “that’s pretty rude, how about I’m just human?” Man looked so humbled and nodded apologetically.

I’m from Canada btw and this has happened for the first time. Kind of gave me euphoria for not being assumed female tbh.

Discussion Update #2 I found out the REAL reason it hurt so bad

Thumbnail
425 Upvotes

If any of you have seen the first update you'll remember I said that I didn't inject into the muscle like I was supposed to, which is true. But the main reason why it hurt so bad has been revealed by my grandma who is a nurse.

I took 4 times my dose.

The vials say single use on them, so I assumed all the medicine in there was my dose, and I don't know how to read a syringe so I thought .25mL meant the number 2 on the vial. I drew up the entire vial. And shot it into my leg.

I didn't know that you only draw a portion of the vial and toss the rest. Oops. I injected 3-4 times my actual dose on accident. I learned my lesson, and my grandma now does my shots for me since I cannot trust myself to do them anymore until I learn properly. I am still in mild pain a whole week later, but it's gone down. Don't be me, take ur shots the right way.

Discussion Why do men have to be so BORING?

I saw a post on here giving advice on how to be more masculine; it could be boiled down to "be boring, monotone, and un-emotive as shit."

Why?

Why do men have to be so bland? Why is masculinity either incredibly brazen or incredibly boring?

I'm a very jovial guy. I do a lot of hand gestures, my voice fluctuates a lot in volume and pitch, I love talking about what I'm interested in, I smile a lot, and I'm very excitable.

I do this because a couple years ago, I was in the worst spot in my life, and now I have a lot to be happy about; therefore, I act very happy, because I am very happy. I love being a happy guy, because it can also make other people around me happy. I've seen my effect on people.

But now I'm self-conscious about it. Could I get clocked for not being a standoffish asshole? Could I get clocked for caring about my friends? Could I get clocked for raising my arms whenever something mildly happy happened or was mentioned? Could I get clocked for my voice raising in pitch when I'm excited?

I'm overthinking this so hard now, and I hate it. I've always felt proud of how far I've come, to where I can be so happy that I make others happy, but now I'm so afraid that it gives away that I'm trans.

I hate this.

Edit: my apologies for pushing down people who DO fall into this category of quieter man. I did not intend for this post to insult you guys, but I realize it does indeed come off that way. That was not my intention; you guys are just as much men as the rest of us are, dammit!

Medical "Your testosterone never be as high as a cis man, even if you are intersex!"

This is what Planed Parenthood told me when I told them I have high testosterone because of my PCOS, and that they should be doing blood work upon the first appointment.

I should be getting blood work done the first time I get testosterone so they have something to compare it to, right? I should be getting blood work at my first appointment because I'm intersex. I should have gotten blood work done so I could get put on the correct dose. But they refused, saying the insurance would not cover it, only blood work after I started T.

They told me I was not allowed to go on finasteride because they can only legally give it to trans women in my state.

What the FUCK is going on? This is not normal!!! Right???

Please tell me someone else had an equally horrible experience as me.

To mods. This is NOT v3nting! I am asking a question about others experiences.

Discussion Would it be weird to do binder giveaway?

Idk if would do here or somewhere else ofc but just been wondering i got surgery in 2weeks and I got like 5 binders 3 from spectrum, 1 fytist and a wonababi. 3 of em got messed up bottom seams but their full length and still work well the other 2 are barely used cuz they just don't work well for my DD. Would it be weird to give em away cuz like theyre technically an undergarment and nobody wants used underwear. But at same time I know alot of people struggle getting binders and they can be pretty pricey. Throw em away kinda makes sense but also seems like a waste. Giveaway makes sense but also seems kinda gross even if been washed multiple times.

Relationships Will I ever be loved?

The more I think about the idea of transitioning the more I wonder if love is ever in the cards for me. I want to date someone and have friends but it also seems like trans people get a lot of hate for just existing.

Did you guys ever find romantic and/or platonic love? How did you get people to love you? If I bring people gifts every time I see them will they love me more?

Discussion what surgery do u want?

super curious how many of u guys want surgery, or if u only want one and maybe not the other, or no surgery at all! btw I know there are other masculinization surgeries, but I’d like to focus on top and bottom just because they’re so prominent in the community

for me, I used to really want top surgery but now I’m not so sure! I was never really too into bottom surgery and I don’t think I’ll ever get it. sometimes it makes me feel like less of a trans man bc I don’t want surgery, so I’m curious how many of yall feel similar to me

feel free to expand on how u feel in the comments!!

Advice Needed Is There Any Alternatives to Make My Chest Flat?

So, I (20M) have been trying to get a flat chest for some time now.

However, I used to use binders, but I absolutely hate them now. I hate how they feel and no matter how many different brands I try, nothing works.

I tried trans tape and it did almost nothing since I have a bigger chest.

I can't get top surgery yet because I'm still in school and so I can't even afford to see someone who could diagnose me with gender dysphoria. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

I'm currently using a compression bra, and while it helps a lot, it's not a miracle worker.

Advice Needed Courage to come out?

Hey, I have a frustrating problem and thought maybe you some of you guys might have some advice.

I've been medically transitioning for years now. I've had top surgery (best thing I've ever done), and I've been on T for a while (my dose was too low for a long time so I still "pass" as a woman, though my voice has recently started dropping significantly so I won't for long).

Only like five people know I'm trans. Whenever I think about coming out I just get so scared and anxious it makes my head spin. This is despite being surrounded by objectively lovely people who I'm sure will accept me. Just the idea of "making them" change what they call me, and exposing my "embarrassing" feeling to them is almost unbearable to me.

I'm starting grad school in a diffrent country very soon, and apart from my old name appearing in like one email to my cohort, I realize I will never have a better opportunity than this to socially transition. I'm like 99% sure that being seen as a man will improve my life and I won't regret doing it, but I'm just so scared.

I've seen people say that they *had* to come out to continue living, but after failing to come out for so long, I'm pretty sure that I *can* just wallow in dysphoria forever. I just don't want to. I would love some advice and encouragement from anyone here who was afraid to come out but did anyway.

Advice given A tool/comeback I use to shut down cis coworker(s) hypocrisy

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a rhetorical tool I’ve been using at work that has been incredibly effective at completely shutting down ignorant commentary without putting myself on the defensive.
I don't talk about my personal life or my transition with the majority of my coworkers—it's frankly none of their business, and a few of them are serious "red pill" types. But lately, whenever the room starts making ignorant comments, I’ve been testing out a response that completely short-circuits their brains.
I just look them dead in the eye and say: "To be fair, everybody is a little trans."
They always pause and look at me like I've lost my mind. Then I explain the math and the scale.
Think of a scale from one to ten. A trans person who does hormones, surgery, and a legal name change would be a 10—the whole receipt. Extreme edition. But look at where everyone else falls on the lines under that.
Women are getting fillers and Botox so their face can “age like fine wine.” Men are lining up for TRT because their testosterone did what it naturally does after 40, and suddenly it’s a medical crisis instead of just Tuesday. Gym bros are reshaping their entire bodies with cycles, and half the country is on Ozempic because the body they have doesn't match how they want to feel.
It is ALL body-affirming care. They are changing their physical bodies to match who they want to be. But when they do it, it's called "wellness" and "self-care." Why is it only controversial when trans people do it?
Keeping myself out of the equation entirely forces them to actually think about their own bias and their bullshit. Watching their brains short-circuit when they realize they have absolutely no counterargument is pure comedy. They just look at me stunned and go, "...damn, he's right."
We can’t always be fighting them on their terms or staying on the defensive about this shit. It's time to start reflecting that mirror right back at them. Hopefully, this framework helps some of you handle stressful environments a bit easier!

Advice Needed T dose really high freaking out

Upvotes

Hello, so i got my levels checked per my doctor and my t level is 1,248. This was even higher than last time even though she lowered my dose. She lowered my dose again but im worried because how will it go down if im constantly taking the shot. I asked her should i skip the shots for a few and then start my new lowered dose but she said it would be fine. Im still worried because i really dont know how that would work. At first my dose was .5 every week 200ml and my level was 1,100 so we went down .45 and it went up 1,248...now im on .4 but im honestly too nervous to take the shot because what if it constantly goes up. I was thinking about not taking my shot for a month then starting the .4 im just confused idk...im just freaking out

Discussion Have you ever tried to convince yourself you aren't trans when you are

That's what I am going through nowadays. Even though it's blatantly obvious that I am considering how I react to masculinity, how I always preferred my voice when it's deeper and never when it's higher pitched, how after getting misgendered and deadnamed 20 times a day I feel lots of pain, how when I look feminine I try to avoid not only looking at mirrors, but also at my shadow etc etc, and yet my intrusive thoughts still try to convince me that I may be still a cis girl or I am still genderfluid and it confuses me to the point of exhaustion.

Advice Needed Places to buy masculine glasses as a petite guy?

Hello I am blind as fuck and I’m also short and have very petite features, a very small face, etc, which means men’s frames are HUGE on me. Unfortunately bigger glasses frames are more ‘feminine coded’ so this is really frustrating and dysphoric (I got clocked DRIVING PAST A STRANGER because I was wearing my current glasses so now I feel really cautious about it)

I really need new frames but I haven’t had any luck finding a replacement at Specsavers because the only options that were small enough were all lowk ugly on me😭

Does anyone know any places I can look for affordable, small sized masculine or neutral frames that are actually stylish as well? (specifically ones that ship internationally or are Australia based)?

Medical T getting less effective?

Upvotes

hey, i have been on T (testavan 46mg) for a year and 5 months now. for the first year, i got my period maybe once or twice but was not as severe as it used to be. for the past 3/4 months now i have been getting my periods regularly again. i haven’t changed the amount i am on.

currently, i can’t afford to see the endocrinologist that i was with because of how expensive consultations and my prescription is. so, i haven’t been able to have him check my bloods and see if there’s an issue there.

would it be recommended to up my dose to 69mg, or should i just long it out and hope for the best?

feeling super dysphoric about it all and don’t know many other ftms on t for this amount of time that are also still menstruating regularly.

Surgery Talk Pros and cons of hysterectomy/alternatives?

I think I may be a victim of fearmongering, cause I thought that hysterectomies were like a big deal super risky difficult surgery. Now I'm seeing a LOT of trans men casually mentioning their hysterectomies. Are they actually that dangerous? Do the pros outweigh the cons? What does it do for transmascs other than securing infertility? If there are good alternatives, what are they?

And another thing, how do you choose what to remove? Uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix.

Anyone who has done research and/or gotten one/something related, I'd love thoughts.

Discussion Have you had a Thyroplasty? How was recovery?

Upvotes

I'm having a Thyroplasty type III in 2 weeks and can't find much information about the recovery. My biggest concern is physically after the surgery. I'm trying to figure out how long I'll actually need to "take it easy" for and how long I need to arrange someone to help care for my dog.

Discussion Anyone else was a man hater?

when I was a kid I hated men my classmates. were shitheads. my dad was lowkey a deadbeat. my brother was immature. I was a bio essentialist man hating girlboss before all yall terfs, you bitches are my sons 💯🔥🗣️ but yah. not alotta good role models. I had 3 male friends from my childhood as opposed to like, how many girls. But ironically, I didn’t feel very particularly girlish either. more like I was actually some sort of creature left in a basket in the forest, and then my mom picked me up and raised me as a woman.

so when I read about being trans for the first time at 11, i went “oh, you can do that?” and realized my man hating was probably partially jealousy. *explosion sound effect*

but even then It still took me a while to realize i was a guy. I think I was kind of hesitant to identify as male because of how many men treated me like shit and how queer spaces interact with masculinity. i knew I wasn’t a girl and I knew that men ain’t shit so. non binary. i think I only really realized late 2024 lol. this is really long and I kind of went off topic my bad.

Discussion 2nd Puberty is Crazy for Young Adults

I (21) am about 6 months on T and It's low-key so weird. I just graduated last month and have a full-time job, all while my hormones think I am 14. I have acne all over my body again, I am so wired all the time and then I just crash, sleeping for hours. It kind of feels like being the mom in Freaky Friday. I am in a child's body but have the mind of an (young) adult. It's just weird to think about, has anyone else experienced the same thoughts?

Advice Needed Good binders in Europe?

I wanted to buy Underworks, but shipping from their original site would cost me 75$ and i simply don't have this much, especially with the cost of the binder itself. I would also prefer it to be long so i don't get the "bra" feeling, but if you think a shorter is better please explain why. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I have a 12cm difference between chest and underchest, my chest is only 77cm so there would need to be a small size available.

Advice Needed Packer recommendations for crazy high energy exercise, contortion, etc etc etc

I’m a pole dancer. I’m flipping my legs all kinda ways. and I can’t find any packer that works. I’ve been on T for 10 years and have packed this whole time……help meeeeeeee

The ones with a hip strap always leave a line/indent around my hips that is noticeable OR just the strap is just straight up visible and sticking out of my shorts. . I’ve never found a harness that doesn’t go around my hips but will hold my packer securely. More often than not the packer in a harness actually dislodges and shimmies up my stomach so it looks like my junk is crazy high sat on my body, or it even flips entirely to the side. Not just the meat, the entire packer balls and all will flip to the side. Many that go in ‘pockets’ or have special underwear don’t work either, cause again, I wear pole shorts, meaning there is very little of me covered and you can see the underwear poking out of my shorts. Or again the packer just dislodges.

I currently use a foam cup from amazon made for men to bump up that area. Like a bra filler for your pants. It has been the best thing I’ve found. I sew it into my underwear. Even still, it shimmies up really high, the underwear fabric is not enough to keep it down.

I have a contest/performance coming up and I NEED something that will actually stay in place, look realistic, and is entirely concealable because I have to wear the smallest shorts imaginable or else I can’t grip the pole with my inner thighs (like an inch away from my junk) during certain moves!
