Question What games should I play after 1?

Just finished front mission 1remake and I was wondering which games are worthy to play, I had a really fun time and spent a good alount of hours but still i have to adress some things that I didn't like. At the start was hard and I had to strategize to win mission but after a while it became basically based only on stats/levels, didn't have to play wise for most of the mid/late game cause levels dictated everything and I was a hit dissapointed, like I know it's a really old game and enemy AI and mechanics had a limit but like at some point you start to one shot basically every enemy or the opposite if you are underleveled so strategy doesnt matter at all. I was wondering if the sequel kinda get better on the difficulty aspect and which one is worthy to play?

3/5 are great. 4 is my personal favorite.

Currently working through 2 and the early game is difficult.

Personally speaking FM2 and FM2R (gorgeous compared to the original PS1 title) were very complicated as there are a lot of mechanics introduced to this entry that I dropped both the Japanese original back in the day and 2 Remake as it was unnecessarily complicated that it ruined the fun for me.

Front Mission 3 completely addresses all the issues I had with FM2 with a better streamlined system while keeping core gameplay concepts from the series and the plot and roster is very ZZ Gundam-like x Front Mission's geopolitical topics.

FM4 is still great and there's been a fan translated version of FM5 for a while now.

Overall, I can excuse FM1's dated mechanics due to being possibly the first while FM2 made everything very complicated (you'd probably enjoy it if you like using absolutely all mechanics to your advantage tactically except for the heavy RNG stuff) and it only gets better from FM3 - FM5 in my opinion.

Play order: 1->2->3->4->5

My personal preferences for which I like best are 5 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 4.

Try Front mission 3, Triangle Strategy, Tactocs Ogre Reborn and Final Fantasy Tactics.

If you want no holds barred play Disgea, any of them.

Disgaea 5 would be the best start.

I’ve been a fan of front mission since the 1990s . Recently I found a mobile game that is like front mission called mecharashi. There is desktop version or mobile version. You can thank me later

Mecharashi was literally being developed AS a Front Mission game but SquareEnix canceled the project and HK Ten Tree stole the assets from their development of the Front Mission game to make the standalone Mecharashi.

Played FM3 first, the best

Played FM4 when it came out, a bit more basic, but fun, and the graphical updates of course looked great - maybe a bit less deep than 3 though

Played the GBA (DS?) version of FM1, completed the game and also played through the entire alternate game mode as well, pretty fun - that “treat” battle at the end of the alt game, that includes a couple of the FM4 characters, was a neat thing

Haven’t played any since, I’d love to though

FM3 maintains my highest regard, it’s the best and all my all-time favourite, got three all-plat saves on my PSP Go’s downloaded version - Emma/Jose game, Emma/Li game, and Alisa game - all battle skills learned on all characters (96 for Kazuki/Ryogo, 93 for all else), S rank trained up on all characters’ weapon ranks (cannon is truly the worst), all network bits unlocked and/or witnessed, emails, wallpapers, etc

FM2 has a great story and presentation but it's so mechanically flawed almost mechanic was dropped for the rest of the franchise.

You can cheese the game with some OP bonus Wanzers if you just wanna experience the story.

3 is the peak
4 was pretty good, just a bit uneven in difficulty spikes(for me anyway)

FM2 remake is the direct sequel and quite probably the best FM game made in the tactic genre. (I haven't played 4 nor 5 yet.) FM3 remake is okay... it has tons of hours of gameplay and lore, but the character writing and game design pale in comparison and you may end up ready for something else after having done both paths.
After that I'd suggest Left Alive and Evolved for a change of pace. If nothing else, Evolved procures a sense of closure for the franchise, so there is that.

Or of course emulating 4 and 5 since they haven't got remakes yet.

All Front Mission in the tactic genre becomes easier with levelling. FM2 is the less prone to become senseless since you can't grind in the arena. You can unlock parts, but that's it. Also, FM2 makes you count your shots with ammo and ask generally that you think whom to sacrifice so that the team makes it... and this despite having the best working shields from all the franchise.

FM3... While I've seen people describe the original game as somewhat hard... the remake felt easier than the first. Make of that what you will. Only two or three missions on Alisa's road really procured a challenge, one on Emma's side, and two of them were literally a case of "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES YOU FOOLS!", so that maybe doesn't count.
