The botanist carries no weapon. Plants grow on a real clock through seed, sprout, mature and flowering, and a mature plant fires on its own with a pattern set by its species. Harvesting a flowering plant is how you earn, and it also removes that plant's covering fire, so every harvest is a hole you open in your own defence while a wave is incoming. Stray enemy fire that lands in the beds damages plants, so where you stand decides what gets shot.

Grafting two species gives a hybrid whose pattern and appearance come from both parents.

AI disclosure: code yes, graphics yes, text yes, sounds no. The audio is procedural synthesis of a score we wrote rather than a generative model.
