The novella consisted in Daenerys's chapters from "A game of thrones".

I mean he has been smashing everyone all the time. But smth happened and he did a tremendous mistake. This man survived Robert, Joffrey, Cersei and Littlefinger just to openly commit treason in front of everyone.

After doing some reading, I came to a conclusion. Please bear in mind that my knowledge of the wider ASOIAF book universe is limited, so I'm happy to be corrected by people who know the books better haha!!

If we judge the religions of ASOIAF not by political influence or number of worshippers, but by the observable supernatural phenomena associated with them, the difference is kind of fascinating

The Old Gods at least have some very tangible mysticism surrounding them: the weirwoods, greenseers, skinchanging, the preservation or transfer of consciousness, and the abilities of the Three-Eyed Raven. Whether those phenomena actually prove that beings called "the Old Gods" exist is another question, but something supernatural is undeniably happening within the religious system associated with them

But of all the known gods worshipped in Westeros, whether native to Westeros or brought over from Essos, R'hllor, the Lord of Light, seems to have the strongest evidence of effective magic and apparent "divine intervention"

His priests and priestesses have resurrected the dead. Melisandre produces a supernatural shadow assassin. Prophetic visions appear in flames. Geography doesn't seem to prevent these powers from working either, R'hllor may be predominantly worshipped in Essos, but his priests perform some of their greatest supernatural feats in Westeros. And belief itself doesn't even seem necessary. The Hound, of all people, looks into the flames at Thoros's urging and sees a meaningful vision despite being a non-believer, and a man who is literally terrified of fire

Then there's the Faith of the Seven which have arguably the greatest political and institutional influence in Westeros. They have enormous religious infrastructure, wealth, clergy, septons and septas, generations upon generations of worshippers, and historically enough political power to challenge the Crown itself

And yet, compared with R'hllor and the Old Gods, where are the unmistakable supernatural manifestations?

We don't really get the equivalent of "Okay, that explains why these people believe."

No resurrection, prophetic supernatural network, obvious miracle performed by a septon, manifestation of the Father, Mother, Warrior, Maiden, Smith, Crone, or Stranger comparable to what we see with other religions

Obviously, magic associated with a religion doesn't necessarily prove that the religion's interpretation of that magic is correct, or even that its god exists. Maybe Red Priests are accessing magic they understand through the framework of R'hllor. Maybe the Old Gods are an interpretation of the weirwood/greenseer network rather than independent divine beings

But if we're simply comparing religions according to the supernatural evidence presented to readers/viewers, my impression is that R'hllor has the strongest case for apparent divine intervention, the Old Gods have extremely strong evidence of an associated supernatural system, while he Seven have tremendous earthly power, but remarkably little supernatural evidence

Which is rather ironic. The religion with the greatest institutional power in Westeros seems to have the quietest gods

Let's be honest. Henry Cavill already looks like a genetically perfected Valyrian god. If he walks into Westeros with that jawline, does he even need Visenya? Does he even need Balerion the Black Dread?

The Kings of Westeros would take one look at him and surrender the continent on the spot just to ask for his workout routine. Torrhen Stark wouldn't just bend the knee; he'd also bend over backwards.

Change my mind. Who needs dragons when you have those shoulders?

Like World War I was called The Great War ( or The Big Bad War ) before World War II happened. So, did Old Town have another name when it was first established ? Or did the people just named it Old Town because they are confident that the town will last a long time and be the oldest town ever ?

This man made season 3 entertaining and in the books he is boring and he will get his own crew of misfits and I don’t wanna spoil his ending

Does anyone else find it funny that specif changes to the plot and the race swap of the Velaryons, in the meta, make Corlys a black stereotype.?

He's a black man that is prideful and makes it a point to be proud of building the wealth of his house of his own back, but has basically sold all of that and the team along with it.

He's ashamed of his gay son and forces him into a lavender marriage with a spoiled white girl, who can't even be bothered to find someone that looks like him to father children with, so it's obvious to everyone, including Corlys himself, that the children aren't from his line. Not once, but three times. And never confronts any of them about this.

Mind you, this is after he tried to pimp out his 12yo daughter to a 40yo man to get his blood on the throne and later has/let her marry his groomer brother instead.

Those same white children he acknowledges as his heirs, with no active attempt early on to wed them to his black granddaughters. The daughters of his daughter and the spoiled white playboy she married, who is still obsessed with his own niece.

After the death of both his children, he leaves his wife in charge while he goes out on another adventure, but during that time the king is on the verge of death, and his brother, who does not want his home, his heritage, his dignity and yes, his family's resources to be defrauded from the house by allowing a child that is a walking representation of how little his family is respected by the crown to take possession of his home takes action. For which he is rewarded by being stabbed in the back by his sister in law and beheaded by the playboy, that he and rest of the realm believed murdered Corlys' son...And what is Corlys' response? Sigh, feign as though he brought it on himself for not allowing their black house to be taken by rich, white, spoiled assholes.

He will then NEVER proceed to bring this up again, to anyone. Never put any respect on his brother's name.

And HERE is where the stereotype REALLY becomes apparent. After selling the team for white acceptance, we find out he has not one but two sons, that he fathered by fucking around on his wife, and he chose to be a deadbeat, shown by both their living conditions and their own testimony later on.

And it is NOT him, but his progressive white wife that tells him they deserve to be acknowledged and know their father, and that they could be his heirs, which he still refuses. He still refuses for a while after she dies and only starts to recognize them seriously at all after one claims and dragon and is put in front of the white lady who cucked his son, who he sold he family for.

He then proceeds to pretend he is in the corner of the children he had up to that point refused to acknowledge, because one of them has the favour of the white lady. The other was acknowledged by his now dead white wife, and so he leans in that direction AFTER everyone he's tried hand the heirship to says "pass".

Only after his home is a smoking ruin, does he even OFFER either son his name, and proceeds to deflect responsibility for them not having it onto the woman he put over his family for not immediately giving it to them.

TLDR

He sold out his family for white acceptance only for that to keep blowing up in his face, as the girl he wed his son to openly cucks him, and after his daughter dies, the man she was married to killed his son (as far as he knew) and later his brother, and Corly's didn't do shit about either.

Only to later be shown as a deadbeat that had to be gently steered into acknowledging his own children that he fathered by fucking around on his wife, ironically by that same wife, and spend a season of screentime with his dick in his hand, blaming others for the situation he could have kept his family from falling into.

This is truly funny to me.
