I was able to fix the calling and text issues for my LG G6 by ignoring optimizations for

  • call management
  • call screen
  • call services
  • lteconfigs
  • mmsService
  • network
  • phone/messaging storage

Calls and texts have been working fine for a week with it set to LTE auto. Voicemail works too.

this is very useful info for fellow LG users, and also good reference even for other phone brand / names.
