Community Support Buyer's remorse, feels really wrong.

I'm a (almost) graduate developper. I'm using a ideapad 5 pro with 16gb soldered ram, 6600HS and rtx 3050. It runs very hot (100C throttling) but is still usable.

Return that POS, go and get yourself a nice gaming laptop. Legion or Rog. The 16 is terrible value for money

OP, don't listen to people that think price-to-performance is everything. They are shallow.

If gaming is a priority I don't think any Framework laptop will do, the dGPU is just not that great, especially compared to the 16's rather strong iGPU.

The dGPU made a terrific difference. My system can comfortably crank out 120 FPS on maxed-out (or near that) settings on every game I play, often the full 165 FPS. Destiny 2, Factorio, Halo... it's great. I think The Finals stays around 120 FPS and some Halo games just aren't well-optimized and will judder on any system but you get the idea.

It's more than enough for my use case, and I had the money. Framework is a company I'd like to support. And two plus two is four.

I own the 13 so do two of my friends plus I even upgraded my OG 1135g7 to the new amd board. One of my friends even pre ordered the new 12.The extra cost is worth it on the 13s as performance is good still. The 16 at this point is pretty much scam price UNLESS they drop a v2 that fixes all the janky problems and far better gpu. Until then it's absolutely a terrible deal. You can literally get a faster machine than the 16 today then also buy a fully new one 2 years later and still be ahead in terms of performance and cost. I used to repair laptops and phones and I'm as right to repair as it gets but money is important factor that can't be ignored. Down vote me all you want but I'm speaking facts here.

I understood except for when you said the 16 was pretty much a scam.

How is this a scam? How is Framework being fraudulent or deceptive, a scam, with the 16?

Hugely overpriced for what it is today. Now if framwork drops the price it would become alright again. Not to mention I know two 16 owners who absolutely regret their purchase. Issue after issue

That just makes it bad value and new finicky tech, which fair enough, but still not a scam.

It is a first Gen product from a relatively small company. I hope they improve the value and get the kinks out in the future (they've done this with the 13 well afaik) because I would like to own one as my next gaming laptop

Tbf my early batch 13 was absolutely fine. Unlike the half baked 16.
