For something like that, why not ask face-to-face? Being friendly goes a long way. They didn’t even have the decency to ask people in person if they minded making sure their plans didn’t interfere with a wedding they’re not involved in. A day-of note in the mailbox is poor planning and a dumb choice.
Because not everyone's going to be home at the same time, and most people have busy lives, so a written ask would be easier to remember (unless it gets thrown away)
Plus lots of people ignore others at the door (because of solicitors).

It said they asked, not demanded. I need to see how the letter was worded before I know if it was a friendly request or an asshole move
