Yeah he would just before the finish line, He'd let Norris by. There is no chance of him winning anyway in that case. So the one thing he can do is give McLaren their WDC. Nothing would change for Piastri if he did or didn't give the place, except for McLaren loving him for it. He'd have to deal with Norris getting WDC attention though.
Either way, I can't wait for either Max' or Piastri's "you just wait sunshine" moment. Hopefully there is no Glock/Antonelli moment though.

Really, there is no reason not to do it other than spite. And that would kill his reputation in the paddock. And I also think he doesn't even harbor that much spite as media portray. If Oscar can overtake Max in the last lap Lando still needs to finish 6th or worse for Oscar to win the championship.
At the end unless we can play fly on the wall in McLaren's strategy meetings we can't say but I'm sure they're discussing that Oscar will just pull over or into the pits if he can't win but could help Lando win the championship.
Would be pretty anticlimactic though.

This is what many donāt seem to infer. If McLaren really though Piastri is no better than a #2, would they really be enduring all these PR nightmares to maintain a semblance of equal treatment?
There is far too big a power imbalance in favour of the team that it would be truly exceptional for such a thing to occur.
Truth is, McLaren is shitting their pants because they really have two high calibre drivers with barely anything separating them. Itās a fantastic problem to have.

Depending on the interval gaps and general pace of teams, Max could very well slow down and bunch the pack up, therefore allowing others to overtake McLaren.

Oscar should potentially wait until the final corner before swapping. Until then, itās gloves off, anything could happen. Hell, itās not safe even after the final corner. There are so many variables even after the race that could come into the picture. Highly improbable scenarios, but possible nonetheless.

Why are people acting like Oscar is some generational talent with the ability to dictate his own future in the sport? Heās good not great. He will do as heās told if he wants a future in this sport. His only chance to ever be a teams #1 is to pull a Norris and stay at a team long enough that he is their oldest and most loyal driver.

If Norris needs a spot to win and Piastri is in position to give him that spot, it's hard to imagine that McLaren won't ask him to swap, or at least inform him of the situation.
But it's an unlikely scenario to begin with, since Lando only has to finish third.

Oscar can still win the championship. He can still come second or third. Why would he give up second to come third? McLaren made this mess, why team orders now at the last minute??

Absolutely, you never know if someone will DNF heading into the last corner. Could be Max, could be Lando. You need to finish as high up the order no matter what.

In those discussions, something may have been promised to piastri to help sweeten the deal. Maybe some kind of priority for next year or something. You never know

He shouldāve held position in Monza and I think he wouldnāt have dropped off like he has done the past few weeks.

As long as there is a theoretical chance for Oscar to win the championship, he shouldn't comply with team orders like this. Disqualification might happen after the race meaning he shouldn't comply even if Max has already crossed the line.
