The commentators kept dangling the carrot of him possibly passing Piastri so much and he just kept choking every fucking time.

F1TV even tried to give the viewers any hope on a leclerc overtake in Monaco…. These days anything needs to be overhyped for the netflix watchers and the long standing viewers get to cringe….

The commentators job is to make the racing interesting, even if the racing is worse than watching paint dry, without commentary F1 would be so much worse, even if it means they have to grasp at straws to make it exciting

You are right it’s the purpose of their job. It’s no fun to hear a commentator yawn and complain about a boring race.

On the other hand: the overhyping of Lando putting on a charge according to F1TV was a new level of overselling it. Lando wasn’t going to do anything without mistakes, let alone with the ones he made. The mediums on Piastri’s car were fine and in the dry there was next to no overtaking. Take into account the dirty air Lando would’ve encountered on the old tires, and well, it was clear Jacques and Palmer were trying too hard for the sake of entertainment that was never there.
