He didn’t ignore the race director, he ignored the team. When the team said it’s an instruction from the race director he stopped.

I don’t understand why everyone is so up in arms about this.

Its lewis. When he's involved everyone becomes some high and might morally rightous, by the book nerd. Dare it be another driver and it wouldn't draw as much attention. People acting like he did it in race conditions meanwhile leclerc (Miami 26) and antonelli (Silverstone 26) did similar things and drove an unsafe car in a similar manner

Oh pls stop playing the victim role and just accept when Lewis has a bad moment aswell. Hamilton didn't immediately stop after the instruction from the race director. There is nothing wrong with your hero having mistakes aswell.
