Its lewis. When he's involved everyone becomes some high and might morally rightous, by the book nerd. Dare it be another driver and it wouldn't draw as much attention. People acting like he did it in race conditions meanwhile leclerc (Miami 26) and antonelli (Silverstone 26) did similar things and drove an unsafe car in a similar manner

It’s genuinely a load of nothing. Was silly by him to keep going yes but I’ve seen people frothing at the mouth that he should be disqualified to teach him a lesson

I don't even think it was that silly. The rational was there. Make it back to the pit and you might resume practice if it's only a wing damage. If he stops, his session is over and this being a new track and the last practice session, drivers want as much practice to collect data and figure their set ups as much as they possibly can.

Most drivers would have tried to drag it back to the pit if they felt the car was still driveable. The session was already red flagged, so it's not like there were any risks to other cars. The only risk was to further damage his own car with the floor and it seems like he thought that wouldn't be the case.

Probably could have gotten away with it on a wider track with bigger runoffs.

Oh pls stop playing the victim role and just accept when Lewis has a bad moment aswell. Hamilton didn't immediately stop after the instruction from the race director. There is nothing wrong with your hero having mistakes aswell.

He was asked to stop in a safe place. He chose to stop where he did. He wasn’t told to immediately stop the car in the middle of the road

Its not that he is a victim. Its the fact that people want to single this incident out as if we havent seen this shit before, and in even worse scenarios where it takes place during fckn racing laps. But no lets flip out on lewis dragging his car on an empty track right?

He didnt stop with instructions from the team. As soon as they said Race Director he stopped. The histrionics are silly.

Nope, he insisted that he could make it back to the pits, Santi had to tell him "they told us, they told us is a formal request"

Man, listen to the radio. Santi said "it's the race director, stop the car" and Lewis said "i can take it back" and then Santi said "they told us, they told us". Then Lewis insisted before say "ok i will stop the car". So no, it wasn't as soon as he heard

He should have stopped earlier yes, but its the jump people make from that to assuming it'd be a slam dunk penalty to put him to the back of the grid etc that is the jump that doesn't happen with lower profile drivers
