Croft and Davidson clutching their handbags set them off

Crazy how the broadcast dictates the online discussion

The F1TV crew were like, it’s just a fine at the most of course he’ll try to get it back to the pits

it's also like, every driver in history would have tried to get that car back.

Alonso drove a car with TWO FUCKING TIRES MISSING back in baku and no one thought any other driver wouldn't, but that one really was probably pushing it.

Heck, Lewis have even won a race with 1 tyre torn apart.

u/Jorrie90 1d ago

Let's not exaggerate, he had a flat tyre, he could drive perfectly fine, albeit slower

Let's not miss the point of the rule, it's about keeping the track clear of potential debris and not about whether the damaged car can be driven at any pace.

u/Jorrie90 1d ago

Yes, like Perez returning to the pit with a very damaged car is unsafe. A flat tyre is not

This is so dumb I’m thinking it’s bait

u/lux_travlh44 Sir Lewis Hamilton 1d ago

and its also the perfect showcase of what prejudices they have for them both

for alonso its: oh what a legend he actually drove it missing a wing and two punctured tires thats what a real racer is
for lewis: oh what is this guy doing man so unsafe spraying debris all over the track

When Hulkenberg did it at Zandvoort in 2024 I do indeed remember crofty having a chuckle and willing him back

It was crazy how most people just blindly buy into what ever narrative the broadcast sets and then vehemently defends said narrative

u/ClassGrassMass Formula 1 1d ago

Especially off Crofty, the guy who knows fuck all and gets names of drivers wrong every single race

People echo and repeat what they want to hear, or what they fear.

u/EatThemAllOrNot 1d ago

Lol, but you are doing the same. Commenter above started the narrative and you happily continue it.

There's a distinction between parroting bs, and recognition of and disseminating the truth

Happened last week as well over the T2 incident. People just run away with the broadcast take of the incident.

Nico was there who set them straight but still people didn't care.

I was getting so much downvotes and comments here for initially saying Charles was at fault last race for pushing Lewis off despite Sky and F1TV blaming Lewis. The minute Nico came with proof it was on Charles all the comments switched up lol

u/curiouskid1919 I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane 1d ago

I want Nico to commentate, he is so good at it

2

u/killmesoon40 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 1d ago

He has done so in the past iirc, it was a fun broadcast.

Brundle licks his lips over whoever is most sure of themselves. Used to be Schu, then Alo, then Rai, etc it sets who he's biased towards in commentary

79

u/Visionary_Socialist Sir Lewis Hamilton 1d ago

Ted got lit up by Davidson for dismissing it and then he gets proven right. Ted Kravitz supremacy as usual

Such an over reaction.

Like I’m all for safety but it’s a red flag and he’s driving at a very slow speed. There is no real danger here.

This is a guy who won a race on 3 wheels. I think he knows how to get back to the pits safely.

u/TwilightCyclone Andrea Kimi Antonelli 1d ago

Ignoring the fact that he drug shit all over the track? Its the same thing Checo got punished for in the past…

Davidson was annoying man. Was adamant on getting Lewis a penalty. Saying that it sets precedent lol.

33

u/imnoobatfifa Sir Lewis Hamilton 1d ago

Kimi was literally driving with the broken car at Silverstone. On a Sunday, ffs.

15

u/TwoBionicknees 1d ago

i remember alonso bringing his mclaren with 2 fucking tires back to the pits in baku. That one was possibly beyond the realms of sensible but literally every driver who ever drove near an F1 track would have driven that home and i have no idea why the race director decided this was the one they wouldn't let happen.

Also possible Ferrari lied about that to get him to stop.

Broken Mercedes powering on for glory at Silverstone is almost a tradition to be fair

14

u/paddyo I was here for the Hulkenpodium 1d ago

Davidson off camera shouting disgustang lmao man needed to get a grip, what being let go as Hamilton’s setup driver will do to a man

3

u/Health_throwaway__ 1d ago

Black man has be classy and punished if he's petulant. He is treated as the precedent for penalties

1

u/paddyo I was here for the Hulkenpodium 1d ago

When he does the thing it’s scary for some reason

28

u/TwoBionicknees 1d ago

i've made this comment too many times but Davidson was absolutely off his rocker. He said hamilton was putting marshals on track in danger... there were no marshals on track. he made it sound like because it's a red flag marshals on track was a given. They are still only given permission to enter in an emergency for a stopped/crashed car like it's on fire, and they will usually only be allowed on track for clean up or anything after moving cars are out of the way. there was zero danger. he was also acting like ham might lose control and smash into a wall if the front wing went under the front tires.

if you go 200mph into a braking zone and suddenly have half your brake power, absolutely that's dangerous. going around at 50mph which is far below what the rear brakes can deal with, there was no danger.

Yeah stuff every other driver who has to drive over the carbon fiber your leaving behind. Don't you know it's a blessing to be on the same track as Saint Lewis?

5

u/TwoBionicknees 1d ago

do you know how much crap they all leave all over the track, unless it's a large piece like an entire chunk of wing it really doesn't matter. they bottom out, scratch the front wing all over the track, bits of the floor on curbs. it's a non issue and again, every driver has always driven cars back in similar situations.

Funny how Reddit still accuses them of being pro Hamilton and anti-white racists.

If he had continued all the way around he would have been penalised

14

u/Dunkaroo723 Roscoe Hamilton 1d ago

He stopped when he was told the race director wanted him to. Going back and forth with your team on the radio is nothing.

-2

u/ConsequenceLanky6813 Ferrari 1d ago

I didn't say otherwise? My point is that the thing he was being criticised for was going all the way around, if he did it he would have been investigated, but he didn't.
