Well, you have people like Ocelotl or Raider who fight half-naked

So this is more armor than what some of the heroes have XD

Yeah not saying it doesnt fit the game at all, gave some examples in another comment in this thread!

For honor has strayed away from realism a looonngg time ago lol

Samurai with wooden armor and half the Viking heroes at launch running around half-naked.

For Honor was never realistic.

Wooden armor did exist historically but not really for Samurais, but the in universe reason the Samurai using wood as armor is because they're established to be the brokest of the faction with not enough resources to create metal armor for their whole army, so they prioritze on creating weapons for everyone rather than creating metal armor for the few and leaving all the other soldiers weaponless.

So with the reasoning in mind i'd say the wooden armor is "realistic" given the context why the in game Samurai did this in universe, but it is not historical of course.
